I have some old slot mag wheels I want to clean up. They don't need to be perfect, probably as good as the one with the Pos A Traction tire in the pics would be good enough. What grade sandpaper should I start with, and what grades to work through? Or is there a better way to clean them up?

Id start with some aluminum cleaner from napa. Is an acid, and may get you what you want with no additional effort.

After that, 800,1000,1500,2000 and polished.

Fairly sure that stuff is mainly oxalic acid, which you can get cheaper at leatherworking stores.

Thanks, don't know of any leather working stores round here so sounds like a trip to NAPA is in order.
