I'm seeing square avatars.
I'm seeing them now as well. Using Firefox.

In reply to EastCoastMojo :
I noticed this button effect today (and the seemingly quick battery drain) while surfing the site on my Galaxy S3, AdBlock Browser (so, basically Chrome). Yes, S3. I don't recall seeing this with the iPad last night, but then I was surfing the site in landscape and not portrait. I'd guess under a certain pixel width the site is tripping to spreading the buttons all the way across... (if that's the case) I'd agree that it'd be nice to make them side by side and half the width at that point.
Okay, I think this has already been touched on, but...
I keep my worktime browsing reasonably limited, but yeah, having the thread titles clearly obvious at thirty paces sort of defies the reasonable understanding that we ought not to shout about it.
On the plus side, it reads really well on my BlackBerry. ;-)
But, I'm not 93. I don't need the title font to be an inch high on my 19" monitor.
How do we get rid of the white background? Please, for the love of my eyesight, let there be something that's an alternative. It's a headache looking at this for more than 10 minutes on a laptop, and I agree with the need for vertical condensation. I'm a dinosaur, freely willing to admit it, I'll adjust, unless it continues to give me a headache with this unholy white.
I'm generally averse to any and all change in my life, but I have to say the pictures are HUGE when i scroll through on my desktop. It makes build threads with big pics all the more fun to look at.
Don't know if this has been covered but when trying to edit a post on my I phone the screen scrolls to the end of the text making it so I can not see what I am editing. Obviously you have to be editing a post that is longer than the editing pan. This is a real PITA that I hope moves up the list of things being looked at.
And yes the thread titles need to be about half there current size and the background needs to change to a darker color. Eye strain is now a real issue for me on this new site.
Two questions (opportunities)? I started a thread the other day and The Hive responded back with multiple replies prior to me logging back in. I'd like to quote and reply to each in one message/comment, versus having multiple separate quote replies. Is multi-quote possible? I know it's a feature on the Xenforo software another forum I'm on uses, and it's pretty slick.
Also...I pulled up this thread to see if I could find an answer (RTFM!), but couldn't find a "Search this thread" option. I did try the search button at the top for "multi-quote" (and a few other variants) but it came up empty. Not sure if there's an option to search only in a thread or if the main search will stay as the only option going forward, but a way to focus the search might be helpful as build threads start to get lengthy.
As someone responsible for managing two e-commerce sites, I can appreciate the amount of work and testing that goes into a refresh...thank you!

I don't recall there being a "search in thread"ability, new or old. It might be possible via google using the "site:" search restriction.

The best "work around" I've found for this is that if you drop your cursor onto the "quote body" a small thing just above the Save/Post button of "blockquote" (between "body" and "p"). clicking on that "blockquote" will "select all" the current quote, that you can then copy/paste-edit to duplicate additional quotes... er, "manually". Just becareful, you'll want a couple of extra spaces below your target copy... if the blockquote is the last element there doesn't seem to be a way to ad another "normal text" line.
I can't quote or reply to a divided person. The editing curser never shows up. Using galaxy s7 on chrome browser.
Still want to see the same kind of page formatting that you see on Rennlist/Bimmerforums/AdvRider. Can only see 4 topics at a time here.

If you hover toward the bottom of the input window, a red dotted line with position markers appears. At the right side of that is a red button with a return marker on it. Click that and it will insert a line after the quote.
I didn't look through the thread but did anyone notice that the pop ups for posting videos, pics, etc... Don't have the same width as the rest of the board on mobile? Maybe something to check.
Also, just want to say that once I got used to the different layout that this is so much better than the old setup. Thanks for the upgrade!
Ok, quote isn't working for me on my phone.
Hitting reply on a post brings up the text box but I can't get a cursor to start typing.
If I go to the bottom of the thread I can write and post though.

AIEEEE IT BURNS!!!
So large. Everything is so big and bright. In fact this message I'm typing looks really large.
I'm sure I'll get used to most of this, but I have to echo what someone else said about the forum thread listing. It's too big on a desktop. I have a gigantic monitor and I can see eight topics at a time. I will say this is much better on a phone or tablet where the screen is much smaller, but push a different layout up for the desktop. You have the technology!
Edit: I'll probably get used to it.
Is this it or did the crew evacuate?
On my PC I'm at 75-80% on thread topic page to be readable and make scrolling easier. 110% minimum on the post page to be comfortable reading. Can they narrow this gap? Too much white yet.
I like this site layout. 5 topics showing w/ banner and 13 topics w/o at 100%. Hover over topic and page buttons appear, otherwise they're hidden and don't take up space. Not a high traffic site but I think they did a good job. I'm using an ad blocker on all sites btw.

I hadn't thought about that - I just checked back in for the first time since yesterday and thought "Well, it's going to remain a giant E36 M3 show, I guess"
But, yeah, maybe they are local to GRM and went to high ground for a few days.
At the very least, I imagine the GRMers they'd want to be talking to about what to change are... occupied. I think the entire GRM world has bigger problems just now.
Nick (Bo) Comstock said:I'm really not having any of the problems most of you seem to be having with the change.
Yeah. At this point, the topics list could use some improvement, but the rest is not bad. Not quite perfect, but the early major usability issues are fixed.
I really think that a font size on a web page is probibly the last thing on the GRM staffs mind at the moment. Stay safe down there in FLA you guys.
I asked Ed a question today and haven't heard from him. It might be that I'm easy to ignore, but I suspect that the GRM side of fixing things has actual real world issues to deal with like not having their houses vaporized this weekend. Just like with the old board I'm figuring out work arounds for pretty much everything except for the size and background issues that people are having. We might need to relax for a week or so about things being fixed/changed.
Don't stop posting about stuff here, there is good info about how to deal with stuff, but we're a chill group, let's chill.
You'll need to log in to post.
