I agree.. 02s in that shape are about as rare the original m1 in any shape.

I still call my Ti a "Bimmer"

Yeah, I wouldn't call it overpriced. My 74 has a lot of the same mods, but is a square-light car and is not quite as good cosmetically, being an older repaint (from what I can see at least), and I'd have to think long and hard about selling it for 7500. FWIW, Hagerty valued mine at 8k some years back, and bumped it to 9k a couple years ago to reflect market changes.

I also know of at least one person who spent over 30k on a full resto of an 02. He knew he'd never get close to that back, but he did get well above the five-figure threshold when he did sell.

QFT. My last one was a really ratty `76 (squaretails, for anybody still keeping track of the whole "round" vs. "square" thing.. ) with a pair of Recaro Cs so threadbare you could see the rubber bladders through the fabric, and a pair of Weber sidedrafts (without filters) on a Tii head. But the shock towers were clean, and I still got $2K for it in 1992 when the compression went away, and my daughter's mom demanded I buy a new car (since the compression "went away" on the way to daycare with lil' girl in the back seat).

I didn't know I was about to become a parent when I bought the thing..my original plan was to turn it into something like the one in the craigslist ad we were talking about.

And 02Pilot, if you're going to change yer avatar, at least pick something like this.

EDIT: Insert Homer Simpson style "DOH! here...I was actually thinking about 2002maniac's avatar, 02Pilot. Mea Culpa. I guess I confused the two of you in my fit of jealousy about y'all still having one when I don't.
