I remember seeing this car at local events around here, though I never knew the owner. Some of you probably do or did. Anyhow, seems like a decent deal for a pretty rare and cool car.

When I was a kid, there was a girl had one of those - even then I knew that was a rare breed, but everybody gave her grief "It's a Vega!"
I don't think I've see one in the wild since then.
I saw a Cosworth Vega once when I was a kid. I remember the gold stripe with the Cosworth lettering. Despite the Cosworth pedigree, these never had much racing career. Pity, because the H-body chassis was actually pretty modern for it's time. My father talks about the '73 Vega Kammback his family had when he firs started driving and how it was surprisingly fun in the twisties.
I see he has done the very common conversion to side draft Webers. I used to know a couple who autoX one back in the 70's. They installed Webers as soon as they offered them. I just loved how they sounded at full throttle!
Too bad the heritage class is for imports only. It's basically supposed to be a class for LBC cars that are no longer competitive anywhere else.
Cool Car. I haven't seen one in ages.
In reply to Ian F:
"Eligible Vehicles: Vehicle must be from model year 1974 or older and and not produced by a United States based manufacturer.. Models newer than 1974, but of the same generation as the 1974 model, are allowed. EXAMPLE: a 1978 MGB would be eligible. Vehicle must pass the mandatory safety inspection (tech) and be in compliance with Section 3, of the current SCCA® National Solo® Rules."
Bah! It's a Cosworth Vega. It's not like it was a real American car. Hell, even at my stodgy region I don't think anyone would care.
Of course, we already have a catch-all class for cars like this. An area car club "Old York Sports Car Club" often piggy-backs onto our events.
I had a 72 vega with the two barrel engine. The steering alone would have made it a miserable autocross car. Did these have R&P steering racks?
One raced in showroom stock in the northeast back in the day. The car did not have an oil pressure gauge and after blowing up a motor. The owner reworked the clock so at ten after twelve he knew he had 60 lbs of oil pressure.

I always loved the idea of the Cosworth Vega as a vintage racer project, but apparently the blocks flex when you start adding the power. Excellent Megasquirt candidate though, since so many of the stock fuel injection components are NLA!
