I used to be able to search Craigslist by typing "search phrase a | search phrase b | search phrase C" Now when I do that, only the results of the first term are returned. Not sure how long this problem has existed, but I just noticed it today when search for roof rack goodies.
Has the syntax changed? Help?
You probably need to enclose your search terms in double quotes like so: "search term a"|"search term b".
Looks like the CL parser is using the spaces as search term breaks and if you don't enclose them in double quotes, it'll make a mess of the rest of the search.
That still doesn't work. Still only getting search term a results.
Weird. It works for some of my searches. Not for others. My car searches seem to be working ok, but this one is weird. Last link should have all the results of the previous 2 links, right?
yakima cargo
thule cargo
thule cargo | yakima cargo

"OR" Searches
honda | toyota
This search finds postings that have 'honda' or 'toyota' (or both).
Works for me on Safari, as long as there are no spaces next to the vertical bar separator. I did a search for celica|1977 and got items with celica or 1977 in the ad, and a nice 1977 celica gt. Anybody want to loan me 5 grand?

Multi item searches have been working for me, but the format is [one|two|three|four]
No spaces, [ to open and ] to close with a | in between each item.

interesting, thanks. I'll have to do it this way and just be careful when I search not to double a term in an OR search I guess.

also seems to have no effect on the above...
[thule cargo | yakima cargo]
I see what it is doing. I had to resort to:
[thule|yakima] +cargo
in order to get it to work
