In reply to rslifkin : I doubt there is enough thickness.  These are pretty light heads even for aluminum 

as far as the pistons go, I'd need to mill at least .125 just to have the valves not hold the head off the deck.  There is no combustion chamber!! It's in the pistons on the early (1971-1980) engines.  

Makes for easy milling and as combustion chambers change configurations it's  easy to upgrade pistons.  It's called a heron head
