That's why I'm trying to find a compact air cylinder that can handle 1000-1500psi. If you put enough pressure in them, you can make the "links" stiff enough to not compress before the sway bar starts to flex.

An alternate idea(though not easily tunable fast) may be to build mechanical collapsible links that accept some heavy valve springs to resist collapsing. You could make threaded preload adjusters to preload the valve spring so it takes more initial force to collapse, plus bottom out a bit sooner for full force. It would be a lessened rate initially due to multiple springs until bottomed out.

Just floating goofy ideas in my head.
