I know that I cant be the only Dakar rally freak on here.
After the shame of the rally being cancelled due to terrorists last year, they are moving to south america this year.
I really wish that SPEED hadnt pretty much dropped all things rally in recent years. (outdoors coverge sucks compared to the old SPEED coverage)
what are peoples thoughts on the south american dakar?
who else is looking forward to it?
they did the recon run a little while back aparrently and heres some pics from the route.
but how can it be the dakar rally when it's not in africa, it was the paris to dakar rally, then they dropped the paris part, now it's on a different continent? what happened to the days of people getting shot at and or shot with out it being a big deal?!?!?!?!?!?!?! 
Oh yeah I remember countless hours of rally coverage on speed channel, I miss it.

I am a huge rally and baja/dakar freak. Looking forward, and it ought to be good with the new route, South America has a lot of good countryside. Great pictures.

Wherever they run it, I'll watch.
The big trucks are lots of fun, but the bikers are insane.

holeee E36 M3. That looks great. I say more power to them. Make this thing a roaming circus. Dakar in South America sounds incredible.
..you guys ever see the Dakar Vid with Simon Peavey and Charlie Boorman? Race to Dakar or something like that? Great stuff on that vid. The motorcyclists are highlighted and they are quite crazy.

as in less then 2 months from now.
Looks like similar terrain, I am sure it will be up to the challenge. If anyone out there uses a Magellin for navigation, you already know that competitors will have to pony up a few hundred to buy all new maps!
