Shouldn't Danica have an advantage on a NASCAR road course since she actually knows what an apex is?

In reply to Curmudgeon:

Interesting. What do you "wire" it to?

Page 2 and no innuendo about the wiggle in Danica's rear?

Seriously - from what I've seen she's been racing hard and taking the high road in response to criticism.

i think it's kind of pointless to try to "solve" the problem of the u bolt coming loose, since this is probably the first time i've ever heard of it happening in the 25 or so years i've been watching NASCAR.. the most likely scenario i can think of is that the aluminum wedge was damaged when she hit a curb in qualifying- she did say that it handled kinda weird after that- and it came completely apart under the stress of racing, which caused it to fall out, which meant that the u-bolt suddenly had a gap of 1/4" or more where the wedge used to be.. all the safety wire, loctite, and lock washers in the world wouldn't have kept things together at that point and would have just gotten in the way as they tried to make repairs to get her back on the track to try to salvage something out of the day.. hopefully the track cleanup crew that picked up the wedge after it came out gave it back to JR Motorsports/Hendrick Racing so they could see what the failure mode was and learn from it..
