Anyone here familiar with them?
I remember them from the '70s. An inline sohc 6, same as the Z-Cars. Full independent rear end. Great interior and seats. Nice ride. Haven't seen one in many years. I'd say if you know where one is with any body metal left, pounce on it!
I always considered it a decent alternative to a BMW Bavaria. Which come to think of it, I haven't seen in forever either.
Rare, sometimes they have manual trannys but most are automatics. Seats look like couches. Datsun realized they had a hit and made it into the Maxima. There are a few diesels floating around.
Rare.
Totally fun ride. Classic 80's styling. Rare as heck. Z car L28e (read: plenty of potential) has Zx style rear irs so sporty yet comfy. Swap to a manual and have fun. Pm me for more questions
Co-worker had one when they were new. Kept it a few years. Seemed very pleased with it. He wasn't an automotive enthusiast.
I convinced my parents to buy a new one. The Z's six did a good job in that car and it was fun to drive. I liked it but the rents didn't.
Well that's enough testimony. Go buy it. And for the love of God give us dat-ophiles some pictures!!!! Do love me some old skool j-tin!
The 810 became wth maxima. It also donated it's suspension to the 280ZX (S130) it came wiht 4 wheel disk brakes and a fuel injected L24 (240Z engine) or the diesel LD28 which is the popular donor crankshaft to build a stroker 3.1L.

Worked great for me!
We had one new. My Dad bought one in '78, a 4 door with a 4 speed. They actually had the L24 not the L28 and was a lot of fun to drive. I think it had like 300k on it the last I had heard. Great car...in an ugly but cool '70's kind of way!

It did until the Cefiro replaced it as the Maxima and they made this series of car the Stanza.
The Stanza was a FWD car from the start, also the first car badged solely as a Nissan in the US in 1982. There is no direct predecessor of the Stanza in the US, it replaced the 710. The Stanza was replaced by the Altima in 93.
I think the 810/Maxima was around the time of the name change. I remember seeing them with badges on the back that said either "Datsun by Nissan" or opposite, and I'm sure they also had a badge that said "810 Maxima"
I could very easily be wrong...

Great Cars! Would love to have a low rust one today! A Bavaria with about 1/4 or less of the repair costs.
