It's the clash and it will be for this years cars instead of the next gen cup car that's coming next year. It will be on the Tuesday night as speed weeks is becoming speed week due to the nfl moving the super bowl a week later next year.

Nascar is trying to reduce the length of their season and cutting it down from Speed Weeks to Speed Week is a part of that, not because of the NFL.
This sounds like a wonderful plan. They should use the rovals at every track that has one.

Well next year the super bowl is February 7 which is the Sunday the clash and 500 qualifying would normally be on.
Willing to bet this is a test run and they run the second points race at Daytona in 2022 on the road course.
Road courses are infinitely more fun to watch (for me).
And it more closely represents how I drive to work in the morning.
It's always started the week after the Super Bowl so if the SuperBowl is late in the month the Speedweeks starts later. This change has nothing to do with the game, this happens every few years based on when labor day falls. Shortening the schedule has been talked about for years because to boost attendance at the other events by reducing travel expenses. Having two days with the track basically closed in the middle of the week leads to most fans just coming in for the last few days. The thought is that the condensed schedule should get more people in for the whole week.
