I hate to say it because I am non-violent.. but I think if more people knew that stealing would result in a beating by your peers... they might be less inclined to thieve

I spent 4 years on a submarine, you have to have a certain amount of trust among each other. The unwritten rule is if you get caught stealing, you may or may not make it to Captain's Mast.

I hope someone kicks his ass when he gets out.

He'll probably sue...somebody. For some reason, that makes me think of this:

So there is at least >some< justice in the world.

People who believe that not everyone is a thief. Still occurs in many parts of the nation. Sadly, not around these parts.

Don't need to give him any evidence to sue anyone over.

I never lock anything when I'm in the paddock. My trailer door is open - sammiches, drink cooler and coffee maker are available for everyone who knows where they are. Sometimes other people need tools or spare parts while I'm out on track or need to borrow the truck to run into town. No one has ever stolen anything in 12yrs. It is the one place I can count on where no one will mess with your E36 M3 and sometimes - they even fix it for you while you are gone.

I'm glad this guy got a beating. Too bad they didn't tar, feather and drag him around behind a pit cart for a couple hours.

makes me think of the time when some guy tried to rob a Marine who had just returned from Iraq (or something like that), and the marine beat him senseless. When the police arrived, they put in the report that the thief had "tripped while fleeing and injured himself."

Yeah, that's why I prefer the debit card to cash. 9 hundo in cash? Not a good idea- dude is still a dick, and I hope he hit every branch of the ugly tree on the way down.

GPS beat me to it. The paddock is supposed to be sacred. We're all doing this together, we all know how tough it is, and we all want every person to be ready & safe--and we want every car on the grid. The Duke of Understeer summed it up very well in a post on this thread:
http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-how-to-crew/46327/page1/

Duke of Understeer wrote: Also, dont carry grudges in the paddock. A lot of the teams know each other very well and do not carry any sort of enemy status between them. I went in LOATHING APR because I worked for a competing software tuner. It got nasty on the forums and with their customers, but at the track, all the team members and crew are as nice as anyone you would meet. It was quite normal to see the Audi and Peugeot guys eating lunch together, carrying on conversations together, ect. Quite funny to me since their fans can't stand eachother, just like Porsche, Corvette, Ferrari fans...Everyone loves everyone in the paddock.

Yup.

I'm not one for vigilante justice either (despite my love of Batman movies/cartoons/etc.), but in this case (caught in the act?), I'm okay with it. It's the paddock, fer cryin out loud. Heck, if someone's been slipping him free paddock credentials instead of him paying the (stolen) dough to buy them, I hope they catch that little worm as well.
