For any of you who don't follow the page but might be interested - since we missed out on our first four events, the remaining four events have been turned into doubleheaders (July, August, October, and November - no September event since most of us will be at STPR). The events will be either at Summit Point Motorsports Park or at Panthera Training Center in West Virginia, both of which are big venues with multiple large course layouts
Anyhow, the two-day events may give some of you who live further away an opportunity to make the hike worth your while. Our first event is July 11th/12th at Panthera (near moorefield, WV). Registration is open here:

I'm bringing a small group of friends to the double-header 3&4 event in late August. Our theme is "cars your grandparents aspired to own" for $1500 or less. We are collectively super excited.

NIce, looking forward to seeing what you bring!. I would just say that (considering your budget) make sure that they won't fail tech - things like make sure the battery is secured, seatbelt works, wheel bearings are in good shape and tires aren't dry-rotted. Would suck to go to the effort to get there and then not pass tech.
Also (not tech related) but make sure they're not gonna break down on course! The fastest way to get everyone annoyed is if your car dies on course on multiple runs and holds up runs/ reduces runs for other competitors! I mean, we already have to deal with Subarus breaking down on course :D

Not sure about beforehand, but I do remember him boasting about how great it was to have a vehicle he could comfortably sleep in so he seemed to like owning it.

There was a Tesla running at the last rallycross i was at before COVID.
Main concern with the i3 is probably your low-profile/skinny LRR tires - I assume you don't have much in terms of aftermarket options for wheels/tires?
There is definitely no place to charge at our venue.

Yeah the tire options are essentially nonexistent. I'll try and take the i3 to an autocross, but I think it won't make it out and back to summit to do rally. Too bad!

i know people do put real size tires on them
Any word on if spectating will be allowed or not? My car won't be ready until the last race or two, but wife and I want to get out to see some racing.

Thanks for the tips! I've run with y'all twice (many years ago now) so I have a rough idea of what we are getting into. Everyone has been informed of what they need to check before arriving. I set the rules as "no convertibles, SUVs, trucks, vans" just to make sure what we all brought would be allowed to run. I do know what our team from Georgia is bringing up and it's very cool and positively ancient. They send us updates like "we got the steering to work today!" The rest of us have been driving our cars on the street already and they should be fine. Nobody knows what the others are bringing so that'll be a fun surprise.

Yeah, you have to swap wheels as well, add spacers, and in many cases put the i3S (larger) arches on too.

you can always do what *some* people do when their cars are broken: rent from Enterprise. Seriously, people do that. In fact, rental cars have won SF class on a number of occasions lol.

For the July event no spectators will be allowed - only drivers and co-drivers. TBD what the rules will be concerning the August event - we're all playing it by ear at the moment to make sure we can have these events, and have to abide by both SCCA rules concerning COVID as well as the rules of the venues we're running at.
That said, there's a "scenic overlook" lot literally 500 feet from the backside of our course, so nothing to say you can't hang out there and spectate if we're running on that side of the mountain :)

I typically have the oldest car running with DC (1985) in general, so will be nice to see something even older :)
Note that Panthera is VERY hilly (not like Summit, which is pretty much flat) and our courses do have heavy braking zones into some turns where there are pretty significant hillsides below - so make sure your brakes work well!
What did you drive when you ran with us way back? I've been doing it about 10 years since the old Summit days.

My first event saw me in a rented maroon Subaru Legacy from Budget Rent-a-Car, and after that I co-drove my friend Justin's Volvo 240. He was more heavily involved in rallycross with y'all, I never found the time to do more of it.

I did! Glad to see the Volvo is still around, he just moved out to California.
