One thing confuses me about the answers of putting it into your DD. If it's OK to use in your daily car, why not just leave it in the car it's in now? Assuming the tank isn't full to the top with old gas, just add fresh fuel in.

Just askin', because I've got that same situation with my Tracker. It's been sitting about 1.5 years now, and I'm hoping to fire it up soon. It's got probably 4 or 5 gallons in the tank.

I took about 5 gallons of 8 year old gas out of my GTI and ran it through the lawnmower mixed with some fresh fuel. The old stuff was clearly a darker colour.

I think it's a function of the ratio of good to bad gas. I wouldn't hesitate to run an engine on say 10 to 20% old gas added to fresh. If you're adding fresh gas to a tank that's half full of old gas, I doubt you'll get it to fire up.

1.5 years isn't really all that old. It's not like the car sat for 20 years with a non-sealed fuel system, or anything.
