I'll add one from Fifth Gear: "Driving sideways is definitely the most satisfying thing you can do in a car."
I can only think of one thing that may be more satisfying.

"We’re having chassis, aero and motor problems. Other than that, things are great." — Ward Burton, at Kansas.
"Well, he lived in the northern end of the house and I lived in the southern end." - Ward Burton on how he and brother, Jeff have such different accents.
I was trying to find the quote of Ward's about hitting "The damn Wall" but couldn't find it specifically. Basically during an interview post race Ward says "The car was doing great, the team did a wonderful job with it and we were running well, everything was great... until I hit the damn wall."
The harder you work, the luckier you become. - Roger Penske
It is not always possible to be the best, but it is always possible to improve your own performance. -Jackie Stewart
looks like someone can make the search function work
I knew that thread was out there, just wasn't going to do the work it would take to find it

Thanks! That's why I had to at least ask first. The search function is impossible for me to use.
Actually the GRM search only seems to hunt through the classified section.
But gooooogle as always is the answer. (as opposed to Miata which is a small claustrophobic econobox whose economy extends to the fact that it doesn't even come with a proper roof.)

It was in the Magazine in May. Before that there was three months of editorial discussion as to whether it should appear at all.
When I lived in upstate NY, it used to snow once every may right before I left college for summer break. Sadly, not that strange in some places.
Overwrought similes are all too common in the automotive press, but a somewhat critical reviewer in Car and Driver many years ago used one that stuck with me. I can recall neither the author's name nor the car, but this simile regarding the 5-speed transmission stuck in my head: "Shifting the car was like rowing a baseball bat buried in a barrel full of coconuts."
What a beautiful description! Who, upon reading those words, would have any difficulty understanding what that 5-speed felt like?
