Do your cars burn oil?

I was going to post this in the Hyundai/Kia engine thread but it was going off topic already.

Ive never owned a car that burned a significant amount of oil. I think my Mazdaspeed3 burned maybe half a quart over 6k miles. I cant remember now. But everything else I own stays at the full mark (or close enough it doesnt matter) for the life of the oil change. Have I just gotten lucky? Am I driving my cars weird? Im constantly hearing about engines that burn tons of oil but Ive never actually experienced it.

That list includes a 230k mile E36, a sportbike and a even a Subaru.

My disco, even though it does not appear to leak.  hits the fill line at 3000 miles.  Just in time to change it.  The Abarth appears to use no oil at all.

My VW 1.8T's never used oil. I never had to check it between oil changes.

No. 

If they start to, they go to their new owner. I have no space for cars that burn oil or leak oil. I am too OCD for that stuff.

1. My sister has a 3 year old Hyundai small SUV thingie that is the middle of an oil consumption test.  

2. I had a $100 1984 Cutlass V6 "local area only" car that burned a quart every 125 miles due to bad valve seals.  On an aggressive acceleration onto the highway you really could set up a sweet smoke screen.

5.3 in suburban burns some... same with the sienna.. but nothing appreciable.

Previous daily drivers lost oil due to main or cam seal leaks.

Of course, I drive Hondas, nissans, and chevys....

Actually, the Hondas don't get driven enough for me to notice between oil changes. I'm sure they do though, the prelude because it's old and the K20 because it's basically only used for autox so it lives near the limiter.

The 350 in my K1500 uses a little, and you can see a little blue when you start it in the morning (valve seals).

The VQ35 in my sentra also uses some, which is fairly common

2013 M5 burns oil, pretty common for the engine, but overconsumption is something to watch for

1991 318is.  Not sure about consumption, but there is lots of oils on the underside, I don't drive it (revitalizing it currently) so unsure about any burning yet.

My 88 c2500 puts out a blue puff at startup due to bad valve seals, but otherwise burns almost no oil.

I towed my miata about 800-1000 miles over a four day weekend last year, running about 70-75 with the AC on and the oil barely dropped on the dipstick.

My FiST hasn't used a drop even with long oil changes.

Yes my 203,000 mile 2007 Civic Si uses about a quart between oil changes. 

I swear I think my Tundra with 200k miles purifies oil -- it looks perfect and doesn't use any, even after 8k intervals.

Every BMW I've ever had is a different story.

After sitting for most of last year, I was driving our convertible, my current DD is leaking but other than not nothing uses or burns enough to worry about.

My 1.6 Miata drank a decent amount of oil until I did a track day with it. I'm guessing fresh oil + revs + heat, unstuck the oil control rings. Because it stopped burning oil completely.

My ratty cafe racer Honda CB650 smokes every intersection. Luckily it holds 5 quarts, so I can go pretty far. You stink after riding it.

Yes and Im getting sick of it. Something must have gone wrong during the rebuild process, but my B18c1 has burned and smoked since the rebuild back in 2017. Getting sick of topping it off and getting another shortblock built and then seeing what was wrong with the current block. Sucks because it makes the right amount of power and has been reliable on the track, but the consumption is not normal and varies from around a quart every 1k miles in regular street driving to around 1/2 quart with highway driving to events + autocross/track days (100-300 miles). My original non VTEC B18b1 started burning oil at around 135k after 3 + years of autocross. That instance I contribute it to me not doing more aggressive oil changes due to all the 2-3 months of autocross for around 3 years straight. The consumption on that motor is the same as my current new motor. ugh

My MK6 GTI on only burns about 1/4 of a quart every 5k miles so I just do the oil change when it starts to drop below full. Nothing major. 

My Cayman says it it supposed to burn a liter per 1500 miles or something. It only does it in California traffic. Normally I drain 8 quarts every oil change. 92k miles.

My F500 race car does because it's supposed to.

The Outback leaks, because it's a Subaru.

The Datsun does because I built it that way (puffs on the shifts).

The E250  does because I'm to lazy to fix the leak.

None of the new stuff burns enough to add any before scheduled oil changes. (Honda Accord, Mazda CX-9)

All of the old stuff leaks it and burns it in a proportion that is largely unknown to me.  I just know to check it.

It will be interesting when I get this rotary back together to see if I have managed to eliminate most/many/any of the leaks.  Pre-rebuild, it leaked pretty aggressively.

My S2000 has burned a quart every 800 miles since I bought it in February 2000. Compression and leakdown numbers normal.

It has been the most reliable vehicle that I have ever owned.

If you don't count the 78 C10 with it's original engine, the answer is no. The wife's 2000 accent would run 6k miles and not burn a drop. the next 1000 miles it would burn half a quart. the next 1000 another quart. 

The 2008 rio would burn half a quart every 7k miles. The 2014 Koup burned about half a quart in 8k. The 2010 big block forte didn't burn any. The Tib would burn about a half quart after a full day of track sessions (2 hours at WOT 80% of the time). Normal driving maybe a half quart in 3k. Her truck (06 4.8 Sierra) burns about half a quart in 9k. The Elantra would burn about half a quart every 5k. 

So no, none of ours were oil burners.
