I think it has a lot to do with aggressive pricing (vs the US prices), easy financing and of course trucks.

I swore off Chrystler products after the Dodge Neon I owned. Absolute junk.

I think that Ralph Gilles needs to get his ass in gear and produce an ACR version.

Wifey was a fire marshal for Chrysler. She made a right turn one day and the drivers door decided it wanted nothing to do with that turning bullE36 M3. A brand new suv. Can't remember the model.

Don't SRT models always follow a good bit behind the model introduction? I suspect they will have one if the car is even mildly a hit.

Nothing is going to take a huge bite out of Civic sales. Honda is printing money.

Seriously.

You must not read Autoblog's monthly sales reports... The Civic is way, way, way down in sales. The 2012 re-design has been universally declared crap. It's so bad Honda already has an update for the 2013's and is moving up it's replacement. The Civic is also badly losing the sales race to the Corolla, Elantra, Cruze, and Focus.

Exactly - if the Dodge Dart can live up to the goals Chrysler set for it, and if it doesn't have reliability issues, Honda couldn't have picked a worse time to drop the ball on the Civic.

Honestly, I see them making a bigger and better changes than GM is.

I said that before, but I want to see an ACR. Just like the Neon ACR. If they did that, I bet you would see a lot of cars back in the SCCA in the Showroom Stock class.

I would bet any amount of money the SRT happens before an ACR version. I would love to see an ACR version (that is aimed at showroom stock competition) and I would pick that over the SRT but I doubt it will happen.

Oh, I have not doubt it won't happen at all.

Maybe if we all sent letters to Ralph Gilles.

The way I look at it is that, to survive, the SRT brand is going to need at least three models. The Viper is one, I figure the Challenger-replacing Barracuda is going to be another, and an SRT Dart (Demon? Duster?) makes sense to me as a third.

I'm curious what it would be, though. The R/T is already a turbo 2.4L... would the SRT just up the boost and suspension? Is AWD a possibility (considering that they already have an AWD version for rallycross)?

The Dart definitely seems like a cool little car, but as it sits right now, it's not even on my short list. I hate sedans. Offer it in a decent-looking hatch and it'll immediately jump on my short list (which currently consists of the MS3, GTI, and Focus ST).

Hey man, I'm with you. I think Sergio and the FIAT crew are doing a killer job at ChryCo! Every new product they release has been a smash hit. The Jeep Grand Cherokee, the new 300/Charger, and even the 200 have all been extraordinarily good. The 500 is starting to gain some steam and the Dart should be a game changer. I'm excited for Auburn Hills again!

That's what I've been hearing. I don't know about an ACR version, but I hope so. The Neon did very well with that package.

The 2.0L and 2.4L are NA engines. The 1.4L is the only Turbo.

I'd assume a refreshed version of the Caliber SRT-4's 2.4T will see duty in any Dart SRT-4. That engine was one of the few good things about the Caliber- it's stout and torquey.

However, I'm going to guess the Dart SRT-4 will remain FWD to compete with the GTI, Mazdaspeed3, Focus ST, and WRX on price. Adding AWD will bump the price up past WRX levels and into Evo/STI territory, or Dodge will have to detune the engine to make a Ralliart/WRX fighter. I hope Dodge has something up their sleeves to mitigate torque steer like Ford's RevoKnuckle or Buick's Hi-Per Strut + a mechanical LSD. ECU-controlled "LSDs" and power limiters suck.

A 3-series BMW can now easily price out to $50k. Why would anyone get all flapped up over a $22k car that was well-equipped???

Great styling, IMHO.

In Automotive Engineering International, Chrysler commented that they were working on a version of the Tigershark motor with forced induction and direct injection. It may show up in whatever replaces the Avenger, but an SRT4 Dart is a pretty obvious use too.
