I'm half serious--I can't remember EVER having seen an ad for a hillclimb in the Midwest. Are they SCCA sanctioned or by somebody else?

Colorado has a full series of them. You might have heard of one. I can see the course for one of the others from here
There's one in northern Michigan: http://empirehillclimb.com/
Dave Estey to the courtesy phone please.
There are a couple Hill climbers with threads in the build section.
We have some in the PNW.
Mostly I'm trying not to make some sort of joke about one person asking about not having seen any in the midwest, answered by another saying that they seem to be common in Colorado... (Yeah, I know, there are actually hills in the midwest...)

I purposefully avoided that joke

Well it kinda helps to have hills... :-p
Seriously though, I remember hearing about one in IL, I think around Peoria, but like many things event insurance killed it in the 80’s.
I'v been to Mt. Equinox quite a few times. A real hoot on a Ducati 900ss too.

Who summons me?!
Yeah America does hillclimbs, just not as well as Europe does. There are small sanctioning bodies all over the place.
In reply to DaveEstey :
I don't know... given our litigious society, I think it does pretty well. Most seem to run on SCCA TT rules with a combination of GCR and Solo classing.
The PA series is pretty popular. The Pagoda and Duryea events in Reading have a surprising amount of support from the local community. Spectating there is actually pretty good, but it does help to know the area a bit before you attend.
Any in Wisconsin or the U.P.? (I got a little excited about the Empire, MI one only to remember "Northern Michigan" is different than the Yooperland.)
We had one in North Alabama for a few years: Crow Mountain Hill Climb.
I think I still have the SSC record up the hill. I think it went maybe 4 years before it was shut down, mainly because of a few local people objected. A ton of fun though, but the only event that ever really scared me in a car.
Used to do corner work at Crow Mountain every year it was held. Had the last 2 corners and finish.
Aren't there a few in around SC, NC, GA? I know about Tail of the Dragon one.
You'll need to log in to post.
