When you realize the Vortec 4200 can do all the Barra and more for pennies, it becomes less desirable.

For what it's worth, both the Barra and the Vortec intrigue me.

Does this make me the odd one out for wanting to build a Jaguar AJ6 I6 instead? I like the idea of the both the Barra and the 4200....but they are both rather tall engines(and the Barra is heavy to boot). Good if you need 1000HP, but the AJ6 appeals to me more simply because the builds I would want an I6 for are all classic cars...and the AJ6 can be run with some triple Weber sidedrafts and a dizzy. Besides...aesthetically neither the Barra or the Vortec is very pleasing. yeah, I know Jaguar's reputation for reliability, but they do build some pretty engines, and if you don't need insane amounts of power. In reality though, I would take any of the 3 engines in a pinch as a fun build, any are better choices for me than the more common 2JZ and RB series engines. Not much fun in doing what has been done a billion times before.
