Is this for real? And do you get to drive it, or DRIVE IT! ? Is anyone considering doing this? I might if it's legit.

This one sounds like it could go either way but I'd assume "drive it" not "DRIVE IT!"...especially at that price.

The place in Vegas that lets you "DRIVE IT!" runs closer to the 4-digit zone.

I can say that this is a pretty fun track, and the current location for most of GRM's testing.

Yep, I've done a few SCCA Rallycrosses there. I sent the FIRM an email to make sure it's legit. I'll post their response. If it's for real, we should have 3 or 4 guys going

I've done similar events before and get notice of new ones through travelzoo/ sweetjack/ groupon at least once a month. I can't see any reason to wonder whether it's a legit event.

Now I'm wondering if it's worth it to look up plane tickets, or look for something closer to home?

Also, this caught my eye: "Travelzoo Tip: Or for rally car enthusiasts, get in the passenger's seat of a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution for $99 with our second deal at the track."

EDIT: Found this sold out one in Indianapolis: http://www.travelzoo.com/local-deals/Indianapolis/Other/53705

If you're going to fly anywhere to drive a supercar, go to Vegas. Because not only is it Vegas, but you can head over to the speedway and rent rides in an entire fleet of cars with these guys: http://www.exoticsracing.com/Racing-School/exotic-cars.htm

In reply to Bobzilla:

Any chance you're doing again? I'd pop $99 and 2hr drive to IN for that.

Looked into it once. Just be aware with most of them, unless you purchase their rather pricey insurance, you are responsible for repairs if something happens.

Pretty much took me from:

- let's do it!

to

- what if I wreck it?

I did this at Gillette Stadium last year, drove the AWD vert, it was fun but way too short amount of time in the car. It was 3 laps in a cone track around a parking lot. I did buy a little insurance just in case! I will likely never be offered a ride in a Lambo again in this lifetime so it seemed worth it. It was fun to be able to make it scream, the instructor I had was very cool about letting me hammer it. I'd bet the fastest we could go was maybe 60-70. The company that was holding the event had something on their website about doing it at Homestead. Being able to do some hot laps on a real track would be a hoot. I was mostly amazed at how much I didn't like the car, I don't know why I expected it to be so much more than it was. It would make for an awful DD, but it sure sounded nice. If you have some extra $$ in your pocket and have never driven an exotic, now's your chance.

I got to drive two Lambos recently. A Gallardo Spyder and a Murcielago. I didn't truly DRIVE either, but it was still a very cool experience. Watching folks break their necks watching the car drive by was insane. I've never driven anything that attracted that much attention!

Here's me in the Murci:

I instruct with a group in the Detroit, MI area. PM me if you want more info :) I don't want to be a long, narrow paddle boat in the forums.

Talking about this on the way to photograph my cousin's wedding, the fiancee told me she's been trying to find things like this for at least a month. That's my girl.
