Dual-zone climate controls.  Drivers side gets hot hot.  Passenger side is cold at idle, lukewarm during normal driving, but at 4000 RPM gets hot hot.  Does this sound like there's an air bubble somewhere and it just needs a good burping?

Any tips on burping the said dual-zone system?  It's a 2006 Subaru Outback XT.

That’s weird.  I’d assume it’s all handled with electric blend doors instead of two different heater cores.

Open the four dash vents, and read the temp across them.  If it is -real hot-hot-warm-cool- across the car, most likely the heater core is poorly designed, and plugged at one end.  If its hot-hot-cool-cool, probably a blend door problem.

There are quite a few cars now with coolant coming in the heater top tank, and out the bottom tank, from the same side.  Sludge builds up at the end opposite the inlet and outlet, so it gets cool on that side of the car.  I've had no luck flushing, but I just bought a Hecat pulsing flusher that I'm going to try next time I get one in the shop.

The title of this thread made me think of the Simpsons episode where Homer had a body shop loaner Cadillac with dual-zone climate control. Homer and Bart were having a battle to see which side would win, and it started to rain inside the car. Someone turned on the rear window defrost, and it started a tornado.
