The third event of the solo season is this weekend and my new tires are ready. I spent last year running the Falken 615K's. My car, a 1982 BMW 320i, running in H stock really works the out side of the front tires. The stock springs provide the entertainment at the events, drive it down on the bump stops and hang on.

The Dunlops were on a competitors car at our last event in February. His 1988 CRX Si, G Stock finished just under a second quicker than my PAX corrected time. Our first event in Janurary he was on a set of Falken's and my time was over 2 seconds faster on a raw basis.

Now we are headed to El Toro to run what has to be the closest surface to the Nationals site that I have had the opportunity to compete at on the left coast. The Dunlops look like a tire that is made for camber challenged cars like mine. The pictures on the Tire Rack site do not do the tire justice.

I will follow up after the event. We have a local Historic class for cars up to 1968 HIST 1 and 1969 to 1985ish HIST 2. The tire manufactures have abandoned the world of 13" performance tires and we have adopted a plus one inch, to 14 " rims. Both the Honda and my BMW run the 185/60/14 on 14x6 rims.

I like mine so far. I will say that they seem to really like air pressure, especially on camber challenged cars.

I use 38 front and 36 rear as my starting reference point with my BMW. The Honda was using 37 front and 30 in the rear.

I was at 40 in front when I got my best temperature profile on my Mazda2. I had the rears at 40 as well but I think I need to move them a bit to get the car to rotate. My friend who was running them on a camber challenged MK5 rabbit had them at 36-38 and it was clearly not enough.

A long time ago I had the opportunity of running an Oscar Jackson prepared Solo2 1988 CRX Si and we ran rear pressures as high as 60.

The super fast guy in a STF mini was at 58 in the rear this weekend. He was 5 seconds faster than any of us and is something like 2 seconds clear of the next closest car in overall PAX. I'm trying to learn a lot from him.

60psi on the rear of a CRX? That's a ton. I only run 41 front 27 rear in my 'rolla that weights a good bit more. More than that and I wouldn't be using all the tread, but I don't have much body roll and do have camber (on the front at least...working on the rear).

best guess would be ... he wanted the rear to be as loose as possible
