Bobzilla, are there transmission issues with the Beta swap? Any other downsides?
The biggest downside is the frequent need for new front tires. Beta bolts to the Alpha trans and allows you to use a real clutch, not a bastardized Mitsu pull-type pile of crap.
Sorry, my Hyundai ignorance is profound, so I want to get this straight: MC Accent trans is fine with the Beta swap, and you get a decent clutch out of the deal?
Surprised no one has mentioned Nissan sr20det swaps into 240's, and my favorite- the Hardbody.

xFactor:
Project Car magazine has a long running/multi-part engine swap of a SR20 into a Nissan 620 pickup truck. I think I'd more inclined to go with the 620 or 720 before a Hardbody...tho I expect there is less work with the newer truck.
I'll have to check that out. My first truck was a '93 HB, so that kinda explains my lust there. I always wanted to swap a vg30dett into it with some 4wd and build an import Syclone, but sold it for and bought an '02 wrx.

I must know more.
What USDM cars did the Beta engine show up in? what model year accents do you speak of.
hits wikipedia
Take Accent like what Bob owns, insert Elantra motor like what Bob owns.
I keep trying to get him to "conveniently wreck" his Elantra.
A turbo kit is not a swap! Unless it's a stock boosted version, and you're using OEM parts for smog compliance.

200-2005 Accent. 2001-2003 Elantra without CVVT.
AMC 360/390/401 anywhere where a 290/304 or even a 232/258 six currently resides.
Pontiac 400/455 anywhere the 301 sits.
Buick 455 where the 350 is.
Gotta love those "mid-blocks"
