Is Edge Racing going under or something?
Their inventory seems AWFULLY low compared to what it was a month ago.
I was about to order another set of RS2s, but they don't have ANYTHING in the size i needed. Like... nothing. No matter what tire.
They have nothing in 215/45-16, one tire in 225/45-16 (a tire that i don't like), and nothing in 205/50-16.
If someone could point me elsewhere where i can get as close to the full range of RS2s as possible, that'd be great.
RS2s is the important part. I'm not interested in RT615s again, and the new Kuhmo i think is more expensive.

There's a long thread on TheCarLounge right now about a guy trying to order some wheels and tires and not getting any responses back from them.
I'd go tire rack personally.
There are a lot of manufacturers that Tirerack doesn't carry for some reason. If this is one of them, go to Discount Tire Direct or Vulcan Tire. I've dealt with DTD before and they're pretty good. Just keep in mind, the shipping price is already attached to the per-tire price, so if it looks more expensive, just look closer.

You also pay tax with DTD if they have a warehouse in your state. Multiple warehouses are why they offer free shipping.
Well i just answered my second question....
1) Tirerack now carries the RS2s.
2) And the Kuhmo is cheaper... when did that happen?
Well let's lead this another direction, now that i've determine that i CAN get tires i want.
RS2s vs. the new Kuhmos. GO!
I don't care about the wear rating, i know the Kuhmos are slightly softer. How do the sidewalls compare? Which is actually "wider?"
Anyone tried both? I find it hard to believe that a street tire can get much better than the RS2s, and i would hate to switch only to regret it.
"New kumhos" = XS?
I can tell you that when you have snow on the start-finish line and a wet track, they're not good :)

Sounds just like my RS2s!
Which were AWESOME the last couple days when Indianapolis got 10 inches of snow, i might add.
Does the sidewall seem pretty stiff?
But yes, i'm talking about the XS. They have them for a dollar cheaper in 215/45-16, and not at all in 225/45-16 which is what i'm more leaning towards trying this time.

I know GRM staff buys from Edge Racing all the time, but they've got bupkiss in sizes I need (15" or 16").

They used to be fine..... until now. Which is why i started this thread.
I've never had a wheel bigger than 16, and i've been buying from them forever.

I really loved my Kumho MX. They were absolutely awesome on track for HPDE and on street. Excellent communication at the limit, good grip, didn't overheat and stayed consistent through 20 minutes sessions. Also wore very well.
Based on that, I'd go with the Kumho XS over the RS2. I believe the old MX ranked higher than the RS2 so I'd expect the XS to continue that.

What car and size were you using?
I tried the RT615s, RS2s, and MXs all in the same size on my particular car, and the RS2 was my personal favorite. The RT615 i think had more absolute grip, but i didn't find them to communicate quite as well.
The RS2s talked to me pretty well before they would start to lose anything, and for my sadly lacking driver skills, this was pretty ideal.
The MX was still very good, had the same characteristics as the RS2s, but didn't quite seem to have the same grip level.
Of course, your mileage may vary.
Keep in mind, the only tire that i actually competed on was the RS2, and that was more than enough to walk around my Honda crew buddies. (more tire, lighter car, but less power)
Didn't the magazine do a test awhile back comparing these tires?
Because now i'm curious. Most of the forums i've come across like the RT615, RS2, and MX in that order, and i seem to remember the lap times being in that order between the three tires on the test.
Anyone remember what issue that was?
The last time I saw the Rt615 in a GRM tire test it won, which is why I bought them (and from Edge Racing no less). Been at least 7 months ago now. I love them and Edge Racing's service. 14" is getting hard to find.

Seems to be almost as hard to find RT615s in 225/45-16. :(
I think i may spring the extra $20 and just get the RS2s again from Tirerack.
It's because the RS3 is due out in a few months.

We received notification that Edge Racing is out of business. That's a bummer, Alex and Max were good guys.

That is very sad. I have found some good deals there over the years. They were always very nice to work with.
Son of a beach. That sucks. I bought my RA1's from those guys.
Suck! I bought 2 sets of tires from them last year! They will be missed.

Yeah, I got my Hankook Ice Bears from them. Who would'a thunk, snow tires from Miami!!

That SUCKS. I loved those guys, they had some of the best customer service ever, and their prices were entirely reasonable, and they had ridiculously fast shipping. :(
Now there is a business I would really like to see get a bailout.
I always wondered why Edge didn't carry R compound tires.
