I’m going to be dropping a car in Orlando this Friday. I will be heading back to Chicago with an empty 16’ car trailer. I will be going through Atlanta, Nashville, Louisville, and Indianapolis. I don’t have a problem diverting a little ways off that path.
Late next week I will have the same empty trailer going from Chicago to Detroit.
If anyone has a vehicle that needs to be moved, PM me. I do charge a fee. This trailer does not have a winch, so a running, driving car is preferred, as I will be by myself.

Trailer!
Is this service going to continue? There MIGHT be a full running Prius (3k pounds) that needs to travel from Sandusky, OH to Springfield, IL in early April. Dates flexible to meet your schedule.
John you are always thinking!
BBC
E36 M3. I'd love to take advantage of this offer, but I can't get money to Orlando and find a truck bed in this sort of time.
In reply to John Welsh :
Unfortunately no. I borrowed this trailer from a friend. He doesn’t use it in the winter, but it’s warming up and he wants it back here in the next week or so. He has a purpose built Samurai he off roads.
I’ve been wanting to buy my own trailer, but they have just gotten too expensive for me to buy one.
In reply to SyntheticBlinkerFluid :
Okay. I wish we had a dedicated GRM'er who could/would do car shipping. I liked the idea of putting the car in the hands of someone I trusted. Also, this was going to be a GRM'er to GRM'er shipment. That sort of means that both sender and receiver are "capable." Further meaning that we would be willing to get the car closer to you or be helpful on either side.
In reply to John Welsh :
Well that was a goal of mine, but unfortunately like I said, trailers have just got too expensive both new and used. I had to drive an 8 hour round trip just to borrow this one. Uhaul charges too much for a one way trailer and it’s a waste of money IMO.

I have been thinking about trailers too. I might know some folks. Let me ask around.
Uhaul does charge a fortune for one-way trailers! But, the full auto transport trailer is a more reasonable $55-ish per day if not one-way. Often, it is cheaper to take Uhaul's empty trailer with you and then come back with it full.
If you pick up the Uhaul trailer in your home town, and then return it in your home town, the rates are "local" even if you took the trailer to Florida and back in the 3 days you had it.
Since Uhaul trailers weigh 2,210 lbs empty, they haul very well and very stable even empty.
I'll bet Uhaul is charging $500+ for the one-way. However, 4 days of $55 is $220. You just have to drag it down there.

In reply to John Welsh :
the problem around here is that the uhaul categorizes trailers as "one-way" and "local". the local ones are always sold out.
maybe this is because our local uhaul is a bunch of crooks. or (more likely) maybe they just don't like renting the "local" trailers for more than a day or two (because they know what is happening).
In reply to Robbie :
A couple of reasons:
When I rent a local trailer from Uhaul it tries to default you to a 4 hr rental. I can see that their goal is to try to be able to make $55 twice in the same day.
Like the trucks, Uhaul puts the newest equipment into the "one-way/big money" fleet and then puts the older, fully depreciated stuff in the "local fleet". This also then reduces Uhaul's operating expenses because they are less likely to have to travel farther for road-side repairs.
In reply to John Welsh :
One way from here to Orlando is $400. Renting one “Local” for 5 days is $280. Like Robbie said, they are always out of local trailers.
Also, I have very bad luck, so something would happen between here and there and I would get caught and then have to deal with that BS.
On top of that, anything I have to rent gets taken out of my end profit, so in the long run, Uhaul is still a waste of money for me.
I'm sorry I took up some much of your thread already with this Uhaul chatter. So, now onto the endorsement...
For anyone who is considering sending your vehicle with SBF (Synthetic Blinker Fluid) your gear couldn't be in better hands. SBF is a true hauling professional who regularly hauls $100k loads cross country. Your car on a short trailer will be simple work for him.
SBF is a long-time GRM'er. He has moved other items for other GRM'er and all with great success. Stellar reputation.
In general, and the reason I started the Uhaul chatter, is that I am jealous that my load does not fit in with his time line.
In reply to John Welsh :
Thanks for the Endorsement!
Yeah I definitely wish I could help out, if owned the trailer, I could definitely help out.
I travel through the south west and Texas with an empty trailer pretty often. People never need anything moved though lol
In reply to SyntheticBlinkerFluid :
Has anyone taken you up on the offers yet?
If not, let's bump up the thread.
If anyone is interested, I’d be willing to look for a car down here to flip up there.
In reply to John Welsh :
Not Yet. Hopefully I can help someone out.
In reply to yupididit :
There is an SVO in FL, I’d buy if it was in TX.
In reply to AnthonyGS :
I’m not sure what you’re asking here.
Can you bring this to somewhere between Chicago and Detroit. I would need to get it for $500 or less to make it Lemons Legal.
Fill the trailer.
I don't know Florida, it may not even be close.

Valrico isnt far, but this car doesn't run and drive, and there is no winch on the trailer. Rob is standing next to me but iPhone sucks noodles.
If it were next Friday I'd help load. I have a winch and a come a long.
