I should clarify that i'm starting with a motor that's going to need a full cleaning, probably hone, and a rebuild.
I also do not have the stock ecu, map sensor, or harness. A standalone will happen, and likely aftermarket manifolds. The turbo is very blown up. (And likely was the reason the block ate E36 M3) No loss, the twin entry CT26 sucks.
I know how strong a 3s is, it's one of the reasons i love this motor.
Does the CT26 develop boost very early? Are there any advantages to this turbo over others that are similarly sized?

There's no advantage to the CT26, which is why i'm not going to use it.
I'm viewing this motor as a shortblock, blank slate. Turbo will probably be in the GT30/32 range.

Sell the 4banger to someone who doesn't know any better and go do some googling to find out just how easy (no cutting, adapter kit available with one phonecall, mates to Supra 5speed and shifter comes out in the stock location) the 1UZ swap is and how cheap that 1UZ can be had, and how when you're done the car gains a total of no more than 60 lb. heck id celica's enough wider than ae86, you might not even need fancy blockhuggin headers. Just don't buy whichever 1UZ I wanna get my mitts on!
I believe there's only one 1uz-powered ST18x car out there, and it started life as a GT4, which makes things "easier."
This is a FWD car, i'm not getting into all that. Not an easy swap.
If this was a 3rd gen Celica, i'd subscribe to your newsletter.
Am I the only one who thinks you answered your own dilemma with this post? :P

Probably not... But you know... i didn't learn the first time when i tested "The cheapest car to build is the one you already own" with the Escort. (Myth.... BUSTED)
So i'm going to try again with a car i already own that's had a lot of work done to it, using motor(s) that i already own.
I already have a RWD hoonmobile anyways.

Ha! Now my turn to help you Sir! I run autoX with a friend that my brother got that ST185 from... his engine ran 365hp, last time it was dynoed. I'll email u his info as he'd love to give you any info he has. Currently that engine is in a MR2 and has had FTD in cars since it came out
