does anyone know of any good sites to go to for info about getting started in this type of racing. (i.e. cars for sale, fabricating of cars, engines, et all) thanks in advance!

Alright, I'll bite.

What's F5/F6 Racing?

The Googles, they tell me nothing... I've found references to snowmobiles, watercraft, and 4-cycle karts...

If I get my wish, it'll be somehow related to to Britain's 750 Formula. But that's getting way ahead of myself...

All right, goodtimegator, what is it before I get all wound up? Links, please! Er, I know that's what you're looking for, but there must be some resource that got you started enough to ask the question?

Ah... They changed the name? It was F440 and then F500, following the common displacements of the available engines.

If you google F500 and F600 you'll come up with a lot more than F5 and F6... I've never heard it referred to as F5 or F6.

Sorry I don't have any personal experience with sites to recommend.

EDIT: Doesn't look like any name-change happened. I still can't find doodly for F5 or F6, and the SCCA seems to refer to F500 and F600.

I've driven an F-modified car (Thanks Tom!), which is the autocross designation for the F440. (I think.) Snowmobile power, centrifugal clutch. Grips good, easy to drive.

I highly recommend them as a driver, but as a courseworker I find them noisy and annoying. Also, they require a trailer which doesn't appeal to me as much as something I can drive to the event.

I'm sure there are dedicated sites out there, but I don't know them. A search for "Fmod for sale" got some results, but most were old.

they used to be at http://eformulacarnews.com/forum.php

but have migrated to their own site..

It is either

http://f500.us/forum/

and/or

http://formula500.org/forum.php

Their community is very helpful, but they REALLY need to get a bit better with outreach and getting info out there for new people to find.

Been interested in F500 then even more interested in F600 for awhile now. Gotta get going with a career type job before I can afford to be more then interested though.

Agreed. Right now, I'm debating between F500/600 or vintage.

It's interesting to compare lap times from the Run-Offs. I can't think of any club-racing class that goes that fast for so little money. It's not hard to find a competitive car in the $10K range. Often less.
