This is not one of those stupid leagues. It is vastly more important.
If your money were on the line (or more likely, your sponsors money), which series would you enter, what car would you use, and which drivers would drive your car?
I think the place for a start-up american team to be is the LMP Challenge class of the ALMS. Randy Pobst might be versatile enough for a prototype. I think I would stick Andy Lally in the second seat for an all-american lineup. For Sebring and Petit, maybe we could snag the young Mr. Rahal.
I have also been thinking that there may be enough money in it to have a nationally prepared "team" of solo drivers spread across a multitude of classes and regions. (the "team" would share a sponsor, maybe a tire manufacturer). If drifting and rally can have major team sponsors, why can't solo?
-1969. Put Richard Petty in a Daytona, like he deserved. Allow Chrysler to develop the DOHC Hemi prototype to its full potential. Decimate all.

A client of mine(I do custom garments, sign, stickers, racing decals, etc) started a fantasy gold league called Rotoff Golf. I think that the idea of something similar to fantasy football or gold would be very cool in motorsports. This isn't really what you are talking about, just an idea that I had...
Would anybody else out there be interested in something along these lines? If this is just crazy off topic I apologize, not trying to thread jack you!
are you kidding? I love thread jacking.
thread titles are simply suggestions.
I might be interested in a racing fantasy league, depending upon what series were involved.
If I won about 250 million in the lottery......
Grand Am Series. GT class. 2 RX8s? Porsches? Corvettes?
Driver lineup (mostly Indy region people who you have probably never heard of):
Car 1:
Me,
Steve Linn,
Jason Knuteson
Car 2:
Geoff Chambers,
Nick Myers,
Kevin Ruck
I have promised an Indy 500 ride to Jon Krolewicz if I ever hit the lotto also.
It's nice to dream.

Rally America. And I'd bribe Travis Pastrana. I thing he's one of the strongest US gravel hounds that's ever been. He probably shoulda got the WRC ride before Block did...
If i had to choose, id say Grand Am since it is waaay cheaper to run a team. Would love to run a DP with Robin Liddell and Andy Lally. Robin has some real talent there and its real rare when you see Lally put a wheel wrong. Would run a Lola with BMW power. Think that combo would be top 10 easily!
it's a bit hard to choose, but I'm going to have to go vintage on ya'll. '66, Ford GT40 Mk. II, but with Ford's SOHC 427 Cammer V8 rather than the 7 liter pushrod V8 they competed with. as for drivers, I'm going to have to go with Mario Andretti, Jack Brabham, Dan Gurney, John Surtees, and perhaps Bruce Mclaren as a backup in the event of one of the other drivers being sick or injured in some way. each driver running 3 hour stints, two stints per driver, undecided as to who starts and finishes the race.
