I agree with your experience. I haven’t seen RX7 selling for “big” money.

You'll be into the trans swap a few thousand. In addition to the trans, flywheel, ECU, pedals, drive shaft, and clutch slave you have to rewire or obtain a harness for the dash cluster from everything I've read.

But at 5k spending 4k or so to swap it might be worth it if you're doing the work yourself. You're going to be close to a rough shape running manual car  at that price so there will have to be a better cost-benefit analysis. A running auto will bring a few grand more than 8k by itself though.

Hard to know for sure. Asking prices are getting outrageous on FD3S cars but it doesn't necessarily mean they sell for that. Unless it's a CYM car. They seem to regularly bring stupid money on eBay

So I can tell you that close-to-stock FDs with 60-80K miles will sell for over $20K in a few days.  I know this from personal experience -- I spent 6 months looking for mine a couple years ago, and in that time I saw maybe 6-8 cars (nationwide) in that condition, all but one of which sold before I could get there.  The one that didn't is mine now. :)

JamesMcD:  Your car had been repainted a non-original color, that's a serious hit to the value unless it was stripped all the way down before being painted so that the engine bay/etc would match.  The missing PS, AC, ABS, and throttle body mods would also be red flags if I had been looking at your ad when I was shopping -- sure, they could be reinstalled, but finding the parts isn't easy.

And yeah, the automatic cars are much less desirable and valuable than the manuals.

I really really really tried.  At the time, we were barely keeping our heads above water.  A part of me was still kind of hoping you still had it :(

My car had been painted properly in an rx7 color but I agree that it not being the original color, and the missing ancillary bits hurt it.
