Anyone have any experience with Febi brand suspension parts? I need a new tie rod end and the Febi piece is $22, Lemfoerder is $58 and Genuine BMW is $95. I don't want to spend the extra $75 if I don't have to - I already need to spend $130 on an alignment since some dumb berkeleyer cut me off last night and I bounced a rear wheel off a curb, tweaking the rear toe.

Febi appears to be mostly a reboxer and their stuff is hit or miss sometimes on initial quality. We have had their stuff require running a tap or die down the threads, etc. We've also opened their boxes and found Lemfoerder (good stuff) inside. But we have never had a failure or premature wearout.

That's the suspension stuff. Their window switches etc are not real good quality; they look good but they don't last. I've pretty much quit with that type of stuff unless I just can't get OE.

The general opinion among BMW guys is to stick with Lemfoerder.

I was just about to say that. It may be Chinese, but I have never had a problem with Febi stuff, and if it's good enough for Bilstein, it's good enough for me.

I guess it depends on the make they're going on to. None of my VW parts from Febi have had any issues.

Then again all my Febi parts have come from germanautoparts.com who's return rate on parts seems to be phenomenally low. I guess it's less a commendation of Febi's quality than GAPs ability to find and stock the parts that don't suck.

On the subject of BMW steering parts brands, how does Pex stack up? Sold side-by-side with Meyle, but quite a bit cheaper.

From what I can gather, they might even by an OE supplier, but I'm not sure.
