I assume for a lot less than that kind of money you could have a custom crank built by a variety of high-end crank specialists...

Damn and I thought a $2.5k billet stroker crank for a 460 was outrageous....

A better question is, "What does a Ferrari F360 in need of a crank sell for?"

It is obviously forged using a mixture of unobtanium and toe nail clippings from the world's most ruthless dictators over a fire made by lighting unicorn farts.

Their F1 cranks are much cheaper.

91 NSX Shortblocks, when available, were $24,999 retail several years ago. slap on a pair of complete heads for another $8k and you could have a nice long block for $33k plus tax. Right before they discontinued them, they dropped the price down to "only" $17,995.

Well then it's a no-brainer, buy a new crate motor, and if the old crank is nearly $30k then surely you can make a profit scrapping the old motor.

No kidding. Imagine the Gen III/IV you could build for 30k. It could blow the Ferrari piece out of the water in every way.

Dammit, even me, the resident Ferrari fan and LS1-swap hater, can't say no to that. LS7 FTW here for sure...

Not sure I agree and I know my wife doesn't. She hates the sound of flat plane cranks.

Not even that. You can buy flat-plane LS cranks. Also, C6R > F458 noises in ALMS...

I don't think I ever really understood what kind of money Ferrari folks are playing with. $28K for a crankshaft..and all the labor required to R&R it.

Wow I should pickup the ratty 360 spider near me for 60K, sell crank 27K, sell top for 32K, and seats for darn near 5K and build a challenge car.
