Saw it in traffic this morning, had M plates on it. Assumed to be headed to Chrysler tech center in Auburn Hills. Ugly little thing....

20 years from now one will be built for the challenge and the forum will be full of people saying "I always liked those". Kinda like how the Aztec is getting a hip reputation.
They should stop dicking around and just bring the damned Panda over so that Chrysler will have a decent small car again, not a fashion statement that is only SCCA legal in Abarth guise.
Right now the 500/Abarth only competes with the regular Mini. Branching out to complete with the Clubman/Fit/Sonic/Fiesta/etc is a smart move. I have a friend looking to replace her New Beetle. She was all excited about the 500 until she looked at one and saw how little cargo room it has. A longer four door would definitely suit her needs better. (Her husband drives a Clubman S. She's, shall we say, less than enamored with it.)

Huh? The 500 is one of the worst looking super-subs ever.

berkeleying AGREED.
And i've had one for a week and a half now. Looks not-terrible in pictures, looks berkeleying AWFUL in person.
As mentioned in my other thread, I like it. I can't explain why. It's fugly. I'd buy one tomorrow if sells for around $20k like they are saying with the turbo and a manual.

I totally disagree. I think they look fine in real life! never driven one, so I can't comment on that. But if the Abarth driving dynamics live up to what they should, I'd buy one, definitely.
And now from the distracted driving files....
When I was at the dealer getting the reflash on my PCM one of the salesmen was telling me the L has a coffee maker option. I think it said its a Keurig type deal, but still, brew your coffee before you drive.

is it keyless? I can just see you walking up to the car, the doors unlocking and the engine starting on it's own.. and then the smell of coffee brewing to wake you up before the long commute to work...
in other words.... NO THANK YOU! (does not help that I do not drink coffee)

I'm pretty much a crackmonger when it comes to guzzling that stuff, but that's got to be one of the dumbest accessory ideas I've ever heard of.
I just commented to my wife that there's one of those up for raffle outside of a local Costco big box store. Ugliest new car I've ever seen. And I'm quite a fan of the one with two fewer doors.
