We had a few 124 Abarth's at the Fiat on the Dragon event in April. I too was surprised at the quietness, but two of them had a bit of aftermarket exhaust and sounded just as good. I wish it were factory though, it's half the reason I bought my 500 Abarth.
500 Abarths don't have a muffler at all. We pulled the can off our shop 124, it got a little more vocal.
