good lord that exxe is quick! Especially as it looks like the road they are racing on is dusty, that should really favour the evo
That dude (Momi) is very secretive about the power plant under the engine cover of that X1/9.
I've read that it is some form of a Fiat/Lancia Twin Cam.
probably based on the integrale...
I have seen references to the 16v integrale engine being pushed to 750+hp
And fun part.. that head bolts to the 132 series block in my 124 spider
Momi is more secretive about his X1/9 than a Mossad operation. I've seen numbers of $40K to $60K to date being quoted for all of the development in the engine. Yes, it uses a standard issue Fiat/Lancia DOHC, likely having started as an ex-Lancia Integrale for the base. In a way, minus the turbo, he's duplicating the factory Abarth Prototipo X1/9 from 1974 that started out with a 1800cc 16 valve powerplant. Too bad this combo never got the green light and went into production.
I don't get why anyone would spend that kind of money to get that kind of HP out of some nutty powerplant.

I do. I don't have it so I can't comprehend it; but I get it.
Fine for straight line power, I'd like to see that same car on a street track though...He'd be pulling hay out of the car for weeks.

Again, that falls under Fiat Management's disdain for the Exxe. Why would they make a car they actively disliked into something faster than the 124?

This might be better....

You may be on the wrong website.

Says the guy with an 850 race car...

define "nutty powerplant". If the internet rumors are to be believed.. he is running an integrale engine in that Exxe.. those were rally cars and quite capable of producing HP and running for hours on end in the worst conditions imaginable.
now.. at those HP levels, does he have to rebuilt the engine and transmission once a year.. probably. What he is making in bets though, probably pays for the work and continual development
I understand not sharing secrets in racing situations, but that's why I never built the 4age in my old MR2, not enough free information to do it correctly without a lot of guesswork.
The Honda guys seem to share everything, look how far that got them...
Holy eff. That is nuts.
I like how the Evo driver seems to forget the shift pattern in between shifts and looks down every time...?
