i was waiting for them to come up to a bridge that was out and for Enos to slam in the back of Roscoe and for Boss Hogg's next terrible get rich quick sceme to take over the farm... But some awesome skills... not that im advocating running from Hazzard's finest...
No not advocating it, but I've always said, you've got to A. Have enough power and road to seriously out run them, or B. you'd better drive like a loon but be in control. Though I can see that last pit move going bad if he'd gone through the retaining wall. Next time I bet he picks the V-8 stang.
Yeah, somehow I made it through a few "suggested" links, the Ken Block vids came up. I want to see that man run from the cops, I believe it would be an amusing thing to watch.
I know "someone" who successfully "evaded" the police in a car years ago, he's since gotten smart, drives the speed limit most of the time, and taken his shinanigans to the track.
Um...you do realize that he was apprehended about six seconds after that.

I'm glad, I honestly don't advocate running from the police. It just makes a mess of things. Come one people, if you get caught, you get caught. Choose another profession. If you were good enough you wouldn't have to worry about getting caught!
It's possible to outrun them..
They have to be out of the car, taking a whiz when they see you being stupid.
You've got time to make a run for it then, ask me how.

I'm not sure I want to know. But I will ask how??
I was watching Cops one time and a guy in a late 70s E36 M3 brown Camaro was dominating the cops through side streets and neighborhoods, I don't condone it at all and I try to follow the laws of the road, but part of me was rooting for the guy. He watched one too many Dukes of Hazzards, I guess, because he was power sliding that car all over the place. He even did the e-brake 180 and gunned it straight at the 3 patrol cars chasing him. He was finally caught when he got cocky and tried to do the around the tree donut.
No luck finding it on YouTube.
Much hoonage was going on in my turbo T/A. More than double the limit.
Came around the bend to find a cop car at the side of the road. Officer saw me while he was doing #1 and was madly zipping himself and running for the car at the same time.
I figured at the very least "failure to stop for a police officer" was cheaper than "reckless driving" or "excessive speed" would have been.
I saw him getting in the car just before I lost sight of him.
I found an exit and hid for a while. I guess he never got my plate # because I never got a nasty letter.

I ran once...
Actually got away with it too.
College I went to was WAY back in the woods on a huge amount of acreage. The road to the school was at least 3 miles long from front gates to first parking lot. I was running late for a night class and was doing 60 on this 40mph road. I had just passed half a dozen cars when a college cop (We had our own police force, not rent-a-cops either) came around the corner at me. He pulled to the side to turn around, but when he hit the lights.. the cars I had just passed all sorta paniced and stopped.. slowing him down.. so I gunned it.
Made it to the first parking lot and shot through it to the dorm parking lot beyond where I knew a guy who also had a fiat spider. Parked right near it, shut her down, grabbed by bookback, and hightailed it into the woods.
30 seconds later, the cop car rolled by.. stopped by the two fiat spiders... and after a few minutes.. kept going. I was a good driver after that.
^ lol
i wish i could see that.
I think the Mustang driver would have had better luck if hed not just gone straight most of the time. In spite of what the OP said.. he DID just go straight down the highway and let the cops get in position with no evasion every single time.
Odd that he wouldn't just move over when the cop was positioning to do the pit maneuver--especially after the second time.
Anyway, a friend of mine (for real) outran a cop while racing a Vette on the freeway at 135mph in his '96 Integra GS-R (he was in his mid 20's and dumb--calmed down since then). Both cars passed the cop who was stopped on the side of the road and kept their respective hammers down when the cop lit up. Integra ditched an exit or 2 down and got lost in the back roads. That was that.
I'm to old/"mature" (lol) to even consider attempting any of that these days. Too much to lose...
good lord...this must be the last of the 9 billion car forums out there to have this video posted over the last 2 years, lol....
I guess since we're admitting to it.....
1st time: On my way home to Zephyrhills from Tampa, I've got WAAY to many people in my Camaro. 19 year old, fairly hot car, friends in the back seat goading me on. "Open her up! Lets see what she can do!" yada yada, ok you asked for it. Drop it a gear, hammer down, going about double the speed limit, 1 am, car coming my direction looks like it has it's high beams on, so I do the "proper thing" and flick my lights off, and back on. Misjudged the distance, I killed the lights about the time we passed each other. Opps, "was that a cop?" "Holy E36 M3! that was a cop" "F@#$" Look in the rear view, yup he's sideways, lights coming on. oh well, I've got almost a half to three quarters of a mile at this point, so I drop the hammer harder. Coming up on a side road, I look back again, he's still WAYYY back there, so I killed the lights again, down shifted start pulling up on the e-brake, "hang on", take the turn with a little tail out action, and hammer it again. No sign of the cop behind me. Lights still out, hook it into a retirement community, get two blocks off the road, hook another left, kill the ignition, coast into a driveway. Get out, throw the T-Tops back on the car, kill the amp for the stereo while I'm back there, so the bass off the pair of 10's back there have no chance of giving us away. (of coarse we were blasting Techno when we went screaming by the cop).... the rest of the way to my buddies house, I babied the car, parked it out back and spent the night.
I do not condone these actions. But at the time, the cops were no where near as persistent as they are now, nor were the laws nearly as strict or nasty about said shenanigans.
I put the pedal down and caught the end of a yellow/ red light and the trooper who was coming from the other direction pulled a fast u turn . I put a little real estate between us then decided to pull over[ no where to run] . He over shot me at about 90+mph hitting his brakes hard but had too much speed and no where to turn . I pulled out behind him and was on my merry way .His 2 nd u turn found me gone.
video is berkeleying awesome, not that i advocate running from the cops unless you really want free room and board for at least a year, but you have give the driver credit for persistence and providing a high entertainment value!
when I was a kid my friends and i used to "run" quite a bit, but we were on dirt bikes. the police went so far as putting a officers on trikes (no quads yet) to try and get us. but many a time we were scared crap, and theyd be laughing and cursing us at the same time. it more a game than anything else, at worst we were tearing up some county property with the bikes, no vandalism or anything like that. though we would take the bikes on the road to get to the woods. the trikes did allot more damage than our kx- and cr 80's ever could... though i had had my kx80 bored out to 105cc's irrc. And no, never got caught, we knew the woods too well. if they'd of just waited down the street we had to use to get there, they of gotten us all for sure, but i think they enjoyed the chase too much.
In the car, only once did i purposely "evade", when your doing 120 plus and actually pass a state trooper; slowing down doesn't make allot of sense, there's no talking your way out of that one, and the blue lights were on instantly(though they got small really quickly at that speed). I was able to get to an off ramp and run on local roads before they could catch up or get another car in position. i was paranoid for weeks...
nothing with any evil intent though, just kids out tearing it up a bit. im sure the statute of limitations is long expired on that stuff now.

I have a similar story. A me and a friend were headed back to the house one night when we were stopped by a train. Instead of waiting it out, he decided to turn around and take another route, by pulling an e-brake 180 in the middle of the street (late at night, no other cars around). We get a block up the street and there's a cop out of his car, waving at us to pull over. Instead, we took a left, hauled ass for a couple of blocks, then took side streets all the way back to my house. Never saw the cop again.
