picking it up tomorrow or Friday, it's an 88 that's unbelievably rust free for a car from the NE,has a D15 block w/ a FI head, stainless header pipe, tein springs and Motegi B Bones wheels, and I'm sure some other mods, bought it sight unseen, well other than a few side shots through email.

running condition unknown.

Pics will follow after I get it home.

I figure it's half way to Challenge status as it sits and then I can Hongify it and have a contender this year.

do not underestimate the effort required to correctly Hong a vehicle.

If it has a D15, it's either a 4spd Standard or a 5spd Dx and is most definitely NOT an Si.

A few notes:

The 88's have different RLCA's than the 89-91 cars. The geometry is different and require one-year-only shock applicaitons; it's pretty easy to update the control arms, though.

You can swap in the transaxle from an Si from an '88 Crx Si and still be able to use the same axles. The spline count is different on '89 and up cars.

You can swap to Si multi-port fuel injection and gain most of the power difference between the models.

There were CRX Si's in '88, but the Civic Si didn't come back until '89. I know this, because I waited for one.

In reply to Woody:

All true!

I have a '90 Dx hatch w/'88 RLCA's that would allow fitment of Illumina's (in 1990). I also got the benefit of more "responsive" handling that the factory decided was too extreme for most buyers.

Its the 21st century, time to sign up. It can be trying to buy a car long distance and I had once what I thought might be a bad experience but it all turned out well in the end. Other long distance experiences worked out fine.

Nice car. I always liked those. So much cooler than Golfs of that era.

I wish Honda would have never gone away from that style

Spec Civic is calling your name.

Also, point of OCD- Those are Konigs, not Motegis. Same basic concept.

I have been actually looking at some of the civics available here locally I just don't know if I can bring myself to buy one. I REALLY dislike FWD...Hmmm though Civic with say S2000 drivetrain? Or something of that nature could be entertaining.

EDIT: I knew I couldn't have been the only one to think of this... http://blog.cardomain.com/2010/02/17/rwd-civic-ftw/

the little bit of rust is due to a scrape and started on surface, underneath is still solid, and I was mis-informed about the rims. Behind the front wheels it also has some surface scale where the rocks chipped off the paint.

As a side note , I'm going to look at another one today...

If I were going to bring a car home from a dry state like Arizona or New Mexico, it might be one of those.

You'll need to log in to post.
