Just wondering what your club's rules are regarding the mounting of a fire bottle. We are required to have a 2.5lbs bottle, with a metal bracket. We have seen some recent evidence that the bottle has a decent chance to come out of the bracket on impact. Just wondering what everyone uses, and what your rules are regarding a fire ext.
I'll also clarify that this isn't intended for the onboard setups. Our rules require that we must have a portable 2.5lbs device available(as much to put out the local fauna) as well as any onboard system.
The bracket typically appears to be metal, with one metal strap.
That's a serious club, setting woodland creatures on fire.

Damn straight.
More for if your car goes off into some nice dry fall foliage, and the exhaust decides to burn a leaf or two.
dude, do you mean flora? Fauna mean ANIMALS, flora means plants...
Your telling me you chase the critters around with an extinguisher after you set them on fire?
The local fauna is delicious when slightly cooked... it makes more sense to bring a sprayer of BBQ sauce or maybe some broth.
Flora, Fauna.....it's all the same to me.
I did indeed mean plant life, but I suppose I'd try to put out a squirrel if it was on fire too(if I could catch him).
One club I ran with said,"No fire extinguishers, just something more to come loose."
On the other hand, my ice racing club,AMEC, requires one and in several crashes and rollovers, I have never heard of one coming loose.
I think SCCA requires a metal bracket with two straps. I bought an Amerex extinguisher and had to buy a double strap bracket separately. I think I got mine from Pegasus.
You definitely don't want a loose extinguisher flying around the cabin during a wreck.
