The Fitch Phoenix was sold at auction this past weekend for $230,000 at the Greenwich Concours.

If I had to estimate the number of times that I ran into John Fitch at Lime Rock over the years, I would have to say that it was more than a hundred. Almost every time, he was there in the Fitch Phoenix. I never really loved the car, but it was absolutely clear that he did, and that's what's important. It's also significant that it went to a collector from Connecticut who understood that the car needed to remain local. I am grateful for his appreciation for John Fitch and his car.

Same with me, Woody. He was always a gentleman. Every time I saw him at an event, I would thank him for building such a nice course. He laughed everytime. It was good that Lime Rock treated him like the treasure he was. I have his autograph and Phil Hill's on a Vintage event poster from 2003. That gets treated with care.
