What's the difference between the 01-up version of the VMaxx sport coilovers and the NA version? I ask because I have a line on a used setup - but it's from a later car, and will be going on my '90. The website says they're the same spring rate, but a longer spring, to avoid coil binding. They also don't have the tender spring setup like the NA version.

Will these work in my application? Or will I be calling FM and buying the components to convert them?

My thinking is that they'll be fine - but thought I should ask before I spend some cash...

NA comes with NB top hats. I'm not aware of any other differences, but i'm also not the proverbial horse's mouth.

The 01-05 ones do come with a longer front spring, yes. The length of the spring means no secondary spring on the front, but it retains them on the back.

You could probably use them on an NA (assuming you get some NB upper mounts, which you will need) but your minimum ride height may be higher than you prefer, depending on the weight of your car and your desired height. That long spring basically moves the range of possible ride heights higher.

Didn't you use the NB units on the Targa Miata, Keith?

The V-Maxx only come in an NB version. If you buy them for an NA, we include a set of NB upper mounts - thus the price difference.

The Targa Miata never ran the V-Maxx, but Team Hammerhead ran them in the Targa Newfoundland at least twice.

Thanks for the help Keith. I'm going to try them - if it sits too high I'll figure something else out.
