Tell that to my insurance company, it's almost a grand for six months of evo ownership
(I'm 32 with a clean record... $990!)
That's less than what I pay for liability only on an '84 Mazda and a '02 Volvo.
And I'm 37. With no points on my license.
Oddly enough, when I inquired on full coverage for an '03 Evo, the rate didn't change all that much.

Wow, you guys are making me feel much better about owning cheap E36 M3boxes... The Fit is $236/6-mo. for full-coverage, while the 1-ton van, Vitara, 200sx and Accent are all in the $115-$150 - though the Accent is the only one of those with full-coverage. Oh, and the trailer is ~$10/6-mo., almost forgot about it.

Yikes!
Part of my problem is sticker shock, insuring the MR2 and the miata was less than $200 every six months, I'm new to this 'real car' ownership thing.
Plus always went for the minimum coverage before.
I paid $24 a month for my crown vic insured with about a $500 deductible on everything, pretty good coverage.
Sorry for the hijack, talked with ameriprise for a quote via my Costco membership...
They quoted me HALF what progressive did for similar coverage, and I've been with progressive for years.
Color me impressed.
Back on topic: gray, leather because I've never had leather, go aftermarket for wheels and tires.

Comparing insurance costs isn't really fair as it depends as much on where you live than what car you're insuring, if not more so. I pay well over $2K/yr for full coverage on an '03 TDI (damn near worthless - need to cancel) and '08 Caravan (not worth much more, but still owe on it). While I like living in metro-suburbia most of the time, the car insurance sucks.
Yes, there are a lot of different factors. The thing that shocked me is when a friend's insurance dropped $200/month or so when he got married. (IIRC his insurance was on the order of $3000/6mo before)

Oh definitely! It just reinforces yet another reason why I've bought so few new/financed cars over the years.

So why the extra doors? Are they afraid it will steal sales from the mustang.
A two door car the size of a Focus would be absurd.
Let's not mince around here: This chassis Focus is HUGE. This is what would have been considered a midsize car in the 80s.
It's not an American thing. There are no three door Foci anywhere in the world. They are all 4, 5 door or Wagons.
My C30 is off the same platform as the previous Focus, and even over here in the States the doors are awkwardly long at times. A three door Focus would simply not be possible in most of the world where the normal parking spot is smaller than the average American pick-up truck. I agree with those who lament the lack of three door Fiesta sales in North America, it would work better here than Europe where they sell them, but a three door Focus would be a joke.

Absurd you say? All the midsized cars from the 80's were awesome as two doors.
And two door cars from the 70's were awesome sauce.
I's still rather have this than any Focus
No kidding, you could not even park those cars in the average European city parking space. They would be longer than the spot.
People say it's expensive, but it seems right in line with the competition. Starting with each companies configurator, base price with Destination and Delivery, not tax, no options the totals are:
Scooby Sti $35,490
Golf R $36,470
Focus RS $36,605
So the spread between all three is about 3%, essentially nothing.

Those cars are expensive too!
Everything's too expensive, unless you're trying to sell, in which case all the buyers are cheapskates.
