Yawner.....
I'm more bummed that the Red Bull was faster over 20 laps on the soft tires than the Ferrari on hard tires. Meaning the Red Bull is incredibly gentle on tires on a track that is supposed to be rough on tires. This is going to be boring again.

Wow, had Ricardo's onbaord on for the end of the race and on the cool down lap Yuki took a run at him!

If the other teams don't get their act together Alonso is right, this seson is over. Their tire deg (or lack of it) is amazing. Other teams pitted early to go for the undercut and Max just drove past it. By the time he did pit he was on fresh hards when his closest competitor's tires were at least 12 laps old. When I said he may win by 60 seconds i was only half-joking, if he pushed the car it was possible.
EDIT: Looks like i'll be watching lot of WEC this year. Max (the streaming service) is basically brodcasting Eurosport coverage. Penske Porsche is looking good for the win today at Losail

Yeah, wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall in the debrief room?
Sainz demonstrated why you don't announce that you're going to dump a driver at the end of the season. AKA "Sorry Charles!"
Charles had brake lockups all race, but Sainz drove a good race, the parts with George were fun to watch till they told George to slow down......
It sure is easy to tell the Saubers from the rest of the field. If we could get Alpine to go back to the pink livery we'd have orange, red, green metallic, BRG, pink, dayglo green, white and blue - a nice mix of colors and a whole lot easier to see who's who.
Kudos to Red Bull for dominating but man it makes it boooooooooring.
Stroll did well to finish in the points after getting kablooeyed by the Hulk and finding himself dead last on lap one. I don't know that Red Bull dominated - Max certainly did - but Checo was well within reach of Sainz and LeClerc (if he didn't have brake issues) and probably George too (if he didn;t have overheating issues)
Max tho? He just checked out on the rest of the field. Once he got fastest lap he just cruised to the finish......

Jezza said something during the grid walk that makes sense now. He was wondering what the teams other than RedBull were doing over the winter, because looking at the lap times the time delta to the RedBulls was the same as last year. Didn't look that way in practice or qually, but certainly looks that way on race pace.
and Martin didn't get it.
The delta top to bottom is near the same.
BTW did Sky hire Gunther? I look forward to "colorful" comments this year.
Lets hope they allow him a long leash.
That was funny, Jezza totally owned him on analysis, Brundle was unable to handle it.
In reply to MiniDave :
Given how the race finished with tires, had either Ferrari showed any real pace, they should have been able to quickly drive the soft tires off the Red Bull. 20 laps should have been enough to do that. But Checo kept the gap constant, showing a serious superiority in tire wear for the Red Bull.
The Sainz Perez George Leclerc racing was pretty entertaining for the first half of the race.
Lance did a heck of a job climbing back into the points.
Max picked up two seconds on the last lap. Or, he picked up one second and Checo dropped one. I think Max could have easily won by 60 seconds, but, in general 20 seconds is his number. I didn't look, but I bet at least half of Maxes wins last season were by 15-25 seconds. Doesn't matter, just ignore Max and the rest of the racing is pretty good.
I'm not sure why you guys are making the Ferrari abuse. Their tire life is a monstrous improvement from last year. Carlos had the Mercs pretty much covered on race pace, even if George did have trouble.
In reply to Streetwiseguy :
It's not just Ferrari that hasn't improved enough, they are just the closest team. Merc is "better" but far from being really competitive.
Big failure for the field.
In reply to alfadriver :
Max is going to win every race until the next major rules change, and even then, he may continue. He is a moot point.
Ferrari fixed one of their biggest problems, it appears, although it was pretty cold this weekend. Their tires didn't exit the facility on their fourth lap.
Whatever they are paying Adrian Newey, it isn't enough. Max might reach Lewis' 100 win mark in the next 5 years if things keep up like this.
The Daniel/Yuki thing was weird. They ordered Yuki to move over, then Daniel didn't go any faster. I don't blame Yuki for being angry, though pulling a move like that on the cooldown lap is obviously uncalled for.
Did anyone else cath that Bottas rear-ended Hulk that caused Hulk to rear-end Stroll?
Yuki should have Superlicense pulled for that BS, though those team orders were garbage.
Sainz is gonna be on a tear all year to earn a seat. Spicy Sainz is awesome!
Once again, 2nd-20th was entertaining. Hopefully it won't be like that all year.
The thing with the Yuki situation is that he delayed letting Daniel by for at least a lap after Daniel had closed a significant gap on him, by the time he let him by Max was on them and they both had to slow to let Max by delaying Daniel from catching back up to the Haas. If Yuki had followed orders right away would it have made a difference? I don't know and at the end of the day Daniel was never getting to the points.
In reply to adam525i :
Yea, Yuki did really time the pass really poorly. After complaining about it. Then he accused Daniel of going slow when he had to make up a few seconds thanks to the poor timed pass.

Can someone explain why there are reports that Jos wants Horner out? Do they have a history I don't know about? I thought they got along....

From what I have heard, there's been some kind of ongoing political power strugle inside RBR since Dietrich Mateschitz died. Helmut Marko on one side and Christian Horner on the other. Presumably Jos is with Marko? I dunno.
Maybe Jos wants to take over as Team Principal? All I know is that some drama and discord in the Red Bull camp might, just might lead to a more interesting season

Is it weird that I'm kind of hoping for that? At this point, it seems like the only thing that can stop the RB juggernaut is RB themselves.
Maybe once Max seals the title at Spa, they will let him run fresh engines (turned all the way up) and have him start from pit lane. That would be entertaining for 3-5 laps, right?
Haas seems like they have made a car that doesn't eat tires. Cautiously optimistic about that. BUT, doesn't look like anyone other than the current top 10 gets into the points apart from a wreck or mechanical failure.
The whole Jos thing is weird. Obviously he doesn't like Horner and is using it for political gain, because if you want to compare misbehavior around women, Jos is far, far worse.
Not sure what hard feelings he could have, either. It's not like Max hasn't been treated like a prince at Red Bull.
In reply to Streetwiseguy :
They still are hurt because Checo won Monaco last year. Seems that Jos is worse than an elephant when it comes to memory. He holds a grudge a long time.
The really odd thing to me is that Jos assumes they can continue to be the same Red Bull without Horner and Newey. Seems to me that's the path to make sure Max is considered to be exactly like Vettel as opposed to Hamilton, Senna, or Schumacher.
