Saturday February 3rd the practice, qualifying, and heat races for the NASCAR clash race and Mexico series are going to be open for free. I went last year and it was a fun afternoon of watching too big a car try on too small a track.

I'd love to make it out to the clash some day. Seems nearly impossible to not have a good time.

Nascar releates to racing, about the same as wwe relates to wrestling. It requires talent, and fun to watch.

It seems a little larger and wider than Riverhead which led to better racing. In spite of the lack of banking there was a some more passing there while faster cars at Riverhead are usually single file now until someone gets bumped. The atmosphere was hard to beat too, the Coloseum is a really cool venue. It had more of a Bowman Gray feel being in a old stadium right in town.

It was one of the most fun events I've been to in years. They did a pretty poor job of promoting it locally so the attendance was low but every one there was having fun. We sat by some people Saturday that had never been to a race before and they were very excited. My girlfriend had never been to a NASCAR race and on the way home was making plans to go to Daytona next year.

You have to travel to the Colessium so there's always a possibility of a bad time with that. Other than that once inside, yes tons of fun.

Check the local traffic , the 110 freeway southbound will be down to one lane from the 10 freeway/ Downtown past Exposition Boulevard / Colosium.
They are knocking down a damaged walking bridge.....
I think Wally took the Metro last year .

The plan is to be there Thursday Friday and Sunday, and New Smyrna Saturday for the modified race.

I ended up driving, as taking the train would have involved a bit of backtracking and I would have missed stopping at the Emergency fire house. We parked in a garage on the college campus, and it was a fairly short walk through the science center to the colloseum. We were in and out in a reasonable amount of time. We went to a lot of what everybody said were questionable areas and never felt uncomfortable. 1990s NYC has given me a pretty high tolerance for a lot of things.

It isn't a right or wrong, just an observation. Whenever a NASCAR post comes up it's not long before it's compared to wrestling or something.
They changed the Clash , its now tonight , because its going to rain Sunday and we all die here when it rains !

NASCAR officials have moved the preseason Busch Light Clash at The Coliseum exhibition to a Saturday night start, adjusting the race weekend schedule because of the threat of torrential rain and possible flooding Sunday in Los Angeles.

The non-points event for the NASCAR Cup Series was rescheduled for Saturday at 8 p.m. ET (FS1, MRN Radio, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio), one day earlier than its original start time at the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The inaugural exhibition race for the NASCAR Mexico Series, initially scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET Sunday, will be held Saturday night after The Clash at 10:30 p.m. ET.
Full credit to NASCAR for having the gumption to change it to tonight. It's the right call.

I agree , and any rain is too much for the tires they probably have ,

They had someone from NASCAR on the radio on my drive home. It sounds like it's going to be a bad storm and they wouldn't be able to get another attempt at racing until Wednesday. Weather aside they're in a busy city, so it's impractical to tie up resources like fire and pd and they have to get the coliseum back to normal soon.
How was the race/event?
The highlights looked good. Unfortunately I'd been up since 2am eastern time for work. I ordered doordash, turned on the tv, and fell asleep. I woke up long after the race to let Ollie out and found something had gotten into my dinner on the porch.
