A friend is building a Yamaha R1 powered uber-7 from a Caterham chassis and all the bits off this bent RM Classics Super 7. As I'm a decent weldor, with welders and a stack of 1" square 16 gauge mild steel tube I got the RM chassis and intended to cut out the bent bits, rebuild the left front corner and install a Miata diff and pickup points for a Miata-geometry rear suspension, shortened Miata rack and front uprights, and a Suzuki GSXR1000 or Hayabusa engine.
The purchase of a very compellingly priced Radical Prosport and acquisition of my SCCA novice permit, as well as a backlog of renovation, bike and car projects and events has rendered "Project RM" surplus to my needs.
It's located near Silver Spring MD and doesn't weigh much. The roll hoop to the best of my knowledge is still in the possession of the original owner and can be had for free.
I'd much rather gift this awesome little project to a fellow GRM community hack than drop it off at the metal recycling area at the dump.
I can be contacted at: motomoron (at) yahoo (dot) com
Wow, Free? The cowl alone is worth that!
No cowl. No hood, fenders, or pieces parts. Just one bent chassis which can save a at minimum a few months of work if the goal is a 7 clone
I've never actually seen a completed RM, but the frames seem to wander all over the place. Hopefully someone can make use of it!

Too far away or I'd already be doin' the "Horshack". I see it as bad luck, but I'm sure my wife sees it differently!
Will it fit in a 6.5 ft truck bed with some creative tie-downs?
Absolutely.
Provided there's a couple tie down points near the front lower corners, the rear of the chassis goes at the front of the bed and the pointy end cantilevers out over the lowered tailgate. I'll even provide a couple fresh red shop towels as safety flags.
Please take this thing!

I was just talking about the cowl framework. That piece is a bitch to bend evenly.
Why do you have to be so close.
Locost frame in the bed of a Toyota T100. Easy fit.

It looks to be about a 4hr 1 way drive and it would be a week or two before I could swing it... BUT... I am supposed to be instructing for the BMW club at SPR April 16-18. If no body takes it before then - I can come and get it one evening after the track closes.
I am trying to figure out how to grab this soonest. Work tonight, but perhaps tomorrow night.
Tempting. Not far at all, but I really don't need it. I don't need it. I don't need it....All better.
Could you FedEx it to Colorado?
No where close to me thank goodness.
I'm not one of those Craigslist dinks who when you call and say "I will buy this item with cash at your full asking price as soon as I can get there after work" responds "Way-ull, it's whoever gits here first with money" - "I understand your urgency to sell, and frustration with many Craigslist buyers. It's a 3 hour round trip though, and I'd like to be sure that when I get there the (insert name of tool, machine or vehicle) is still there" "Way-ull, how do AHH know yer gonna show up?" "Because I'm a 51 year old grownup who would like to have a simple exchange of my money for the old wore out sh1t you no longer want or need"
So, that said:
I'd like it gone sooner than later, and I'll take names for 1st dibs, 2nd, etc.
Person w/ first dibs says when they'll get it. If they blow that time I notify #2, etc.
It's a free 7 chassis FFS! I'd have chewed an arm off for one of these but my bike engined car jones is satiated now.
BTW - thanks for posting that pic, Keith. When I was truck shopping a T100 was tops on the list but I couldn't find one w/ less than about a zillion miles.
I've got an '02 miata engine and transmission with harness and ecu I could sell to finish it up- in Arlington Va. Make one trip!
Moto- bad thoughts crept into my head since I have the aforementioned engine/trans setup, but I've got to feed the proverbial monkey first (monkey= 4age 20v swapped MG Midget with rod knock, grrrr). These things never end up being trivial.
You have email, and I have a friend that is fairly local who can pick it up this week. Now I know what to do with the most of a Miata that I have lying around!
Whatever level of dibness April 16th is... if you still have it I'll remove it for you.
If it's gone... you best hide the Radical... that might fit in my truck too

That one had about 100k - but more importantly, it was turbocharged We used it to tow a 24' trailer with a race Miata inside along with three full tool benches, a hundred gallons of race gas and a spare engine and transmission. On the stock clutch. One impressive truck - but if you like those, look at the first generation Tundra. Same size truck, more or less, but with more engine.
If this were me giving away free stuff, I'd stick with the standard rule. First guy there wins. Same rule I use when selling - first one to pay gets it. Saves a lot of pain.

You're also a decent word-smith. Thank you
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no...... still working on the last two 'free' projects.
It appears that Mistanfo's associate will be collecting it at his earliest convenience.
Glad it's staying in the family.
