changed the fuel filter and did pluga nd wires on my 99 s10. couldnt believe the amount of black nasty ass crap that came out of the fuel filter..of all the ones i have changted this had to be the worst i have ever seen.. cant wait to see if my mileage improves.. it def seems to have woken that lil rig up some. oh also new air filter.. wnet paper cause i am cheap and didnt want to put a k&n in it... plus i just paid out the nose for one of those full k&n deals for my firebird.

I usually toss out the K&N and revert to frequent paper filters. The K&N traps the dust like it is supposed to and very efficiently hangs on to it. Of course the driver then takes advantage of the extended wash intervals by driving around with a dirty filter for far longer than he/she should. Imo.

Before putting the new filter in, (next time) put the fuel line into a bucket and crank it over. Any schmutz will get pushed out and not collected by the new filter.

Less black nasty crap in the filter.

Ya know, I have never figured out exactly what that fine dusty black crap is. I thought for a while it was carbon from the fuel pump brushes, but that couldn't be right.
