Just got a G Tech Pro "Fanatic" for an early Christmas present and got to looking at it. What sorts of cool things can you do with these? Do they hook up to the interwebs? Can I use them for telemetry? Will it talk to my OBD? Can I tell it how much my car weighs and get a rough estimate of power?
I ask because I am technologically retarded and will not figure it out on my own, at least not without accidentally setting things on fire, which is normally how my experiences with technology go.
Which model did you get exactly?
I know the old one I have ("1994" model on their site) is basically a 1-axis accelerometer, you could use that to measure lateral Gs (get peak/sustained numbers) and get estimated 0-60 and quarter mile times.
The new ones are much fancier and has high-frequency GPS so you can do lap timing, and has at least a 2-axis accelerometer.
Go here and click on the model you have to see the features:

I have a 2010 RR model, it appears. It looks like there's a ton of stuff I can do. Woot!
i got one when they first came out.. was fun to play with.. haven't even looked at it for over a decade- wonder how fast my Cavalier is?
i saw a couple of years ago that they made one that was integrated into a 5" tach- which looked kinda cool.. but now you can get a free or cheap app for a Droid or iPhone that does all the same stuff..
Just did the maiden voyage. I averaged 8 mph in a half mile long slalom with a peak of .13G. Ice sucks.

This. I thought that I wanted one, right up to when someone offered to sell me his. After thinking about it a while I realized that I'd try it once, think "okay, so there are the numbers", and it would live on a shelf the rest of its life...

To be honest I only took my old Gtech to a few track days. Got some numbers for peak and sustained cornering and braking...and then I got bored with it.
The new ones with GPS tracking and 2/3 axis accelerometers offer a lot more though.
In reply to GameboyRMH:
The thing I like best is that it lets me "build" a track. This means I can go down to the local construction zones and trace a pattern around the road cones and then compare "laps."
I've already logged a top speed of 18 mph, a peak cornering g of .11 and an average speed of 9mph. Ice is awesome. ;)
