Reposted from my build thread, mostly because I expect with such a huge delay in posting, that nobody is watching it anymore:

Additionally, since I am out of money, it looks like I will be waiting on the next step, which, logically is pulling the engine out, cleaning/freshening, and getting the cab in epoxy primer to start the fine bodywork.

Logic need not apply when one's wife is ready to go ballistic over already escalating costs.

Financially, the nest way to proceed seems to be the gauge package.

Let me explain.

The Tunatruck, being an extremely low option order, was shipped with a gauge package like this:

 photo IMG_2098_zpsvvqgaj3a.jpg

It's SUPER ugly. And useless.

The high option gauge package looks like this:

Which is actually still pretty ugly.

My ideal is to stuff the three holes with one 4-in-1 combination gauge and a couple of big ones on each side. That turns out to be like a $700 option. More than the Accord. Not happening.

My next plan is to be creative. If I can scrounge up used up, beaten up aftermarket gauges secondhand, I am pretty certain that I can make faces for each and make them fill the spaces creatively. So, with that, I am asking for your outcast gauges. I'll even pay a tiny bit for them if you want. Essentially, I need a speedometer, a fuel gauge (for a Jeep), a tach, an oil pressure gauge, a water temperature gauge, a voltmeter, and a clock.

I'd rather old and beaten up than no-name new Chinese stuff on eBay.

Does anyone have anything interesting?

Also toying with the idea of an add-on tach, just because some of them look really cool added on:

Thoughts?

Pitfalls?

Any gauges laying around?

I do that on a regular basis and it works/looks better than you think it would.

Sunpro gauges are cheap and classy-looking, so you might want to give the ebay option another chance. I have a couple of unboxed ones for sale, but not the ones you're looking for.

I have a brand new Sport Comp water temp gauge i just listed in the $2015 Classifieds.

Think i have a pro-comp fuel gauge with no sender as well, so you'd just have to get whatever sender. Don't think i have anything else.

Shoot me an email if you're interested. $50 gets you both.

eBay is not bad specifically, just that I'd rather get a used good gauge than a new crappy one for the same price

In reply to Swank Force One:

What fuel gauge? The resistance pattern has to match my sender.

The water temp gauge may be too rich for my blood. At least for now.

Thanks

Oh, you're trying to use a stock sender? I don't remember, i'd have to dig it up again and look haha.

Fuel sender should be 0-90 ohms, so match the gauge to that.

I don't have anything on hand, but if you have a big rig junkyard nearby, those things are full of nice high grade gauges.

Nope!

It's from a CJ5, so 73-10

I've never seen such a thing, but a good thing to put into the back of my mind nonetheless.

Marine gauges tend to be a bit more robust than automotive and worth less as used items. Ebay has no end of cheap gauge offerings. I know, Cheap not=free.

Got an old VW Beetle speedo/gas gauge. Like this one.

Ok, found them before work. I have a pretty nice Airguide tach, 3" diameter, adjustable 1 to 5 (cylinders?) on the back, and a set of 3 no name 1.5" gauges for pressure, temperature and amps. Pressure gauge is mechanical and temp gauge includes a sender. All of the gauges are 270 degree sweep.

Yours for free if you want them.

If it were me I would keep your spedometer, put a tach in the middle and make a 3 or 4 gauge cluster on the right. You could DIY gauge faces for all to match.

That's really really really cool. Any idea on resistance ratings for that gauge? I'll look it up.

EDIT, they match the Jeep sender. This solution rocks.

Chevy G10/G20/G30 gauges? I retrofitted a set into my Caprice awhile back...

I don't know...had a look on flea-bay. $100-150 seems to get you a full set of deluxe gauges for your truck that will look right and save a bunch of time.

I know I'm not one who gets accused of pushing the Easy Button very often, just saying... Some of us are getting older and I would hate to kack before you get this thing done!

The seven hole gauge package is still silly-ugly. Also, $150 may as well be $1.5MM right now.

You must of done something really bad to piss off momma tuna this time! Did you roll a car into something stationary?

No I hear you, projects take second seat to family or else we don't have family. Carry on.

Wish I hadn't gotten rid of the Porsche 924 gauges I had:

I think they'd be just about perfect for the Tunatruck (and yes I giggled when I first read that). Tach, Speedo (cable driven) and combo gauge with water temp, fuel level and various idiot lights (oil pressure, high/low, indicators, low fuel, voltage and parking brake) and they are separately mounted and made by VDO so they are serviceable and customizable.

I'll keep an eye out for a set for ya, people give them away sometimes.

Yes. I did exactly that.

And her nasal polyps are back, approximately eight years ahead of schedule. Also she is trying to lose weight and failing. Also the kids are being particularly disrespectful lately. Also she doesn't really like the Accord.
