Wow, I just saw that Big Red hit 253. His cars are just incredible.
Sorry, I figured everyone would know. As above, the car is a stock bodied 69 camaro. He hit 253.xx on the Mojave airstrip. It's a 1.5 mile strip.

Yeah, that's cooking. It was impressive enough when Eric Yost went 241mph at Maxton, and that was with a 1800hp twin turbo small block 3rd-gen Firebird. Going 12mph faster with the comparatively bad aero of a 1st-gen Camaro? That engine must be making some steam.
I think it was Velocity that had an hour-long documentary on this.
Seems like a looooong, curvy Salt Flat race needing some big cajones to compete.
I'd really like to see Big Red at the Big Bend Open Road Race next week.
That flying for something that had the aero of a brick.
