A few of you have asked for a mobile version of GRM. Well, we listened, and in between a whole bunch of other things going on--like, you know, making magazines, we've been working on something.
http://m.grassrootsmotorsports.com/
We think it's pretty cool, but we weren't sure about mentioning it with all the other updates. This is pretty beta stuff. It's been tested, but not necessarily everywhere, or on every device. We don't claim it will all necessarily work, work on your particular mobile device, or work exactly how you expect it to. Your mileage may vary, objects in mirror may be larger than they appear, yadda yadda.
That was your fair warning. Again, this is BETA.
It's designed to be REALLY stripped down, giving just the minimum for small screens and slow connections.
It's probably best on iPhone/iPod touches, and OK on other things. On the iphone & Touch, bookmarking and adding to your home screen will give a spiffy GRM icon, too.
So, if you'd like to give it a go, enjoy. If there's something that doesn't seem right (and there will be), drop me a line and I'll add it to The List.
Not really working on my Treo.
I get:
Index of /
.index.html
.logs/
.static/
Hope it can be worked out - would be a great time waster in airports!
Hmm.. Try mobile.grassrootsmotorsports.com or iphone.grassrootsmotorsports.com
Sounds like I've got a domain mapping issue to sort out.
iphone.grassrootsmotorsports.com give me the index of... page. clicking on index.html gives basically an about:Hello World! page.
mobile.grassrootsmotorsports.com is all wonky on my ipod touch
Wonky how?
Feel free to send me a message. Probably be easier for me to keep track of 'em for futre reference.
"Coming soon: Another fine website hosted by Webfaction
Site not configured....."
thanks for the extra effort btw.
How does this work on Tommys phone but not on everyone else?
Tommy's phone rules. Cause it's Tommy's.
Actually, it works on mine, too. 8)
Seriously, it sounds like the domains haven't finished propogating.
I am shopping for a new phone, as you can imagine, the iphone or Blackberry Storm are the most likely candidates. Whichever works with GRM mobile takes the lead!
The site works great on my Verizon Motorola Q!
iPhone. All other mobile devices wish they were iPhones. The lead is that big.
Mobile site looks good on my phone! now, I am not just limited to wasting time at this site while sitting at my desk at work, I can waste time at meetings too... :D
Much easier to use on my phone. Thanks
By the way, I recommend using the m.grassrootsmotorsports.com domain. Besides being a few characters easier to enter, I'm not entirely sure about the other ones will properly keep track of who you are.
unable to stay logged in on mobile site?
but, I really like it! much easier to read on smaller (1024x768) screens.
see post above. I only trust m to properly keep track of the cookies and sessions. I'll probably end up re-routing the other two to there.
Am I the only dinosaur that uses his cell phone to actually talk? While I really do like the magazine, is it really necessary to get it on my cell? Baxter- you need to get a hobby! :D
Wow- big improvement! I was trying to use the main site over last weekend on my PDA that has wireless.
Although, there's still too much graphic fluff at the top of the page, when viewed as one column. "default" is a little better- you can see the tabs clearer. But still too much stuff at the top.
I have MS Mobile 6.0, and the accompanying IE, on a Dell X51V pda.
You should get a real PDA and check the site out- my screen is almost as big as a iPhone. Very cool- thanks!

whoops, except for the double post... the non-mobile site looks good on my Voyager too, but the mobile site loads a bit quicker.
Thanks Tim!
