So I'm finally getting ready to bite the bullet and go with a Microsquirt setup on my '79 Civic 1200, but the one thing really messing up the conversion (in my head, at least) is the fact that the studs holding the intake manifold to the head are in precisely the spot where you would want to have a fuel injector pointed at the back of the valves. The only thing I can think of to remedy this is to do a lot of fill-welding inside the valve cover area to place the studs further outboard of their current location, but barring that, where is the best location for the injectors further upstream?
These are the studs/ports in question
4AGE 20vs have them on the "ITB adapter," just outside the intake ports on the head.
so are you trying to put the injector bungs in the actual head? i would think just putting them as close as you can on the intake runners would get the job done
yup. in the manifold. and also use a stock fuel rail to locate them so that way you can use an off the shelf fuel rail for whatever you spaced them with. cuts costs considerably. id think d-series honda would be a good fit.
Put them where it is convenient and as close as possible and worry about bigger issues.
Looks like mounting them underneath would avoid the hardware issue.
Just move them up the intake far enough to not interfere with your studs. Firing at the back of the valve might be ideal but not required. Anywhere from the TB to the back of the valve is acceptable.

Unfortunately, later model Hondas have an even port spacing whereas the old 1200 has a split intake port spacing.
If the location isn't too critical, I have a set of these and may just end up using them as my all-in-one package of injectors, rail, tps, and throttle bodies, from a CBR600.

I'd be tempted to go that way. FWIW, those CAN be split into pairs. Might make it easier to get your spacing and such better.
The splitting into pairs will already be happening, but ideally I'd like to be able to bring each pair closer together, though with the CBR throttles it doesn't seem to be practical. Does anybody know of any bikes with four individual throttle bodies vs. pairs? I'd prefer 600cc or smaller since these intake ports are already pretty small themselves, and don't need to get any bigger.
