Today was not to muggy, I used a torch, a grinder, a welder and put a 4 link together.
All in all it was a good day.

I rassled a electronic oil metering pump on the Jensenator, got the stupid thing figgered out and cleaned up and now all I have to do is pick up a little hardware and reassemble it. Remind me sometime to post how those stupid things will make the ECM go into 'limp mode' and how new ones are $1500.00. No that's not a fatfinger.
Beautiful weather here. 61 degrees at 9am when I got up. Never got over 77' F and no humidity. Global warming what? This has been the coolest summer I can remember.
I swapped an engine in the 91 MR2 I dragged home from Craislist 2 weeks ago.
Today was indeed a good day in the shop.
Shop? It's still racing season! I drove to Packwood for an SCCA event with the RX-7 and Audra co-drove while John borrowed my P71 to autocross. It's kind of weird to have two of your own cars competing at an event. After we got back I washed the 7 and the P71. Nothing broke and they both ran great. Good day at the track.
Yesterday I did do some garage work though. Changed a headlight in the 7, changed the wipers on the Duster, de-stickered the Duster (that was fun), and got to check out our town's annual street cruise (they close off downtown and let show cars cruise for an evening after a huge show all day, no burn-outs but you can run open headers and play with flame-throwers).
All in all a damn good weekend!
Aussiesmg, plus two for pics.
Just still too damn hot here in Tucson. It's 8:00 p.m. and 100 in the garage. And I'm in the foothills! Going into the 70s at night so cooler is coming but even October will probably be in the 90s. Pretty hard to go to the garage after being outside all day.
Been rebuilding my tools up, picked up the H.F. $14.99 creeper . I only buy tools unless they are on sale. Will finish H.F. trailer next month and will start doing some autox this fall. <Someone has finally made a camber/caster piece that will give lots of caster for the EP3 Si so that's very good news.
Have had to buy mostly horticulture tools this summer since I'm back in that biz. Eight different hand tools for pruning so far, loves me some pruning tools. They get lightly sharpened and lubed before each job.
I had been stalled on a bunch of little stuff getting my 62' Sprite back together after fresh paint. I have to roll a bunch of motorbikes out to work in the garage and it seems this summer it's either been 94 degrees and 94% RH with a 74 degree dew point, or raining. Finally last Thursday after work I organized all the parts left to go back on, installed the headlights, marker lights, horn, and the 4 new pieces of anodized aluminum grill-aperture trim. It looks like a car now which is a huge morale boost.
This Tuesday I've got the entire evening free and it's supposed to be dry and 70s. The rest of the carpet, interior panels, seats, roll bar and belts are all going in as well as a new Optima battery. Then I can start reconnecting all the lights, horn, fuel level sender, and all the crap on the back of the dash thats certain to be fubar from the dash hanging off the past 1-1/2 years.
It's gonna be a runner in a week and a driver in 2. Finally.
A little garage momentum goes a long way.
New upper and lower balljoints in the '96 F-150 today. I do like the I-beam front, not worrying about flying springs while changing balljoints is great.
Got some resto work done on the 1980 Indy Pace Car, painted the brake booster and bits of the core support. Installed a rebuilt door hinge and painted some trim parts.
Finished a turbocharger rebuild for a customer, now I can buy the new camshaft and lifters for my own engine.
Next weekend is car show and new wheel bearings in the wife's Corolla.

I thought about installing the locker in my truck and even got to point of taking it out of the box and playing with it. Then I decided today was not the day and ordered an H4 conversion for the truck instead and folded clothes. Nice lazy Sunday.
Picked up a camper shell off cl on Saturday. Matches the truck, even! Sunday I pulled the truck in the garage for no real reason and ended up working on little things all day. Put a new washer pump in, Pulled the drums in the back to see what kinda shape the shoes were in, and one oF the adjusters is missing. Found it wedged between the shoes at the bottom, has been rubbing the inside of the drum, too. No problem, I'll just go get one from az. Negative. Oreilleys? Neg. Ended up reusing the boogered one so that I could get it back together. Good news is the parking brake actually works now, but the master cylinder is dying a slow death. Oh well, I've got something to do next weekend now too.
No car stuff this weekend, but did go out on a charter boat to do some blue water fishing. My son, his 10yo son, myself- 3 generations of Charles Hanlons!! Did OK, got some King Mackeral, some fiesty bonitos, a little snapper. Seas were nice, good boat, I'm a happy Grandpa today. CJ (grandson) was super happy, said "Pops, that's the biggest fish I ever caught!"
I spent the day yesterday getting a track day started, then going home so I could spend the day writing.
I had a good productive sunday too. Sat races got rained out so i got to get other stuff done.
1) New rear door on the cap of the truck. (made from pop riveted 1x1 alum tube and roof flashing. (thank god for cheap air rivet guns!! )
2) Changed out the oil presure sending unit on the truck. This involves removing fan and shroud, draining power steering. pulling HUGE alum bracket that hold power steering and A/C compressor and flipping it upside down over the master cylinder. just so you can see the sending unit. then put it all back.
3) Swaped out the A./C compressor as it seized up tight this spring and toasted the clutch too... It's not as cold as it was but at least it works. Will see how long the $25 used compressor last.....
I haven't got this much done in one day in a long time.... but then again wife was away on a girls weekend and no one else know i was home from the races.
